I covered a game of his, in Lexington one cold night against the Gamecocks way back when and Sheldon Brown was one of our DBs at the time who jumped one of his passes and had it hit him right in the sternum ... he failed to make the interception.

Sheldon told me it knocked the air of him, that he heard it come wizzing in like a bullet and before he could get his hands up the ball had hit him in the chest and gone flying back the other way twenty yards. We heard the thump of impact in the press box.

Then he showed me the bruise on his chest from the impact of the ball ... must have hit him with close to 100 foot pounds of energy or so. You could almost see the seams of his pads in the bruise.

I'd never seen anyone, not anyone, throw a football with that much velocity, it was just amazing. He always seemed to throw perfect spirals too. Maybe the greatest arm in the history of college football ... I don't know what his top-end was but there were rumors that he could throw one 85 yards on the fly.

I am going to say this is probably the correct line of thinking. I saw him in person at a McDonald's during his playing years and he was listed as 285 but that did not include his head and 1 arm. Dude had to be at least 315 - 320 back then. He has put on some weight since!

Dude was always entertaining and made UK football fun to watch.

More like the Hefty Lefty was the long lost twin of Dinner Bell Mel. Both had appetites and both were fun guys to hang out with. RIP Mel (sad face emoticon here)

Jamarcus should join that league. Then there'd be a real SUPER Bowl.

Anybody remember Freddie Kitchens? QB for Bama in the late 90's.

All laughs aside, Freddie was one helluva athlete. If he had a better supporting cast he would have set records. He could throw a football thru a brick wall. Huge arm.

We shouldn't idolize this guy. He makes a mockery of everything we hold dear.
