But the state of Texas is such an amazing source of talent that it can easily sustain multiple top 10 programs.

False. Show me a year when the whorns, OU and TAMU were all top 10 programs. I'll give you the answer. Never. It's always been that way. Two can be on top but not three. Big game Bob isn't about to give up his spot and Sumlin isn't either. The whorns are 5 years into a 10-15 year banishment. Only when Stoops or Sumlin leaves will there be an opportunity. But my guess is with everything else that came with A&Ms move to the SEC, the whorns should focus on stealing the spotlight from Bob. Taking it away from A&M will take a major move on the part of the whorns like becoming an independent, which we all know cant happen for 10 years until their TV grant of rights expires. F'em all.

All schools are selfish. All look out for themselves. UTx/Baylor/Tech may not have liked that A&M left for the SEC, but they didn't bat an eye about bailing on the SWC and leaving SMU, UH etc to rot.

As far as being foolish, I can understand (but not agree with) the argument that Nebraska's move was a bad idea, and maybe Colorado and Mizzou, but how exactly has the move been bad for A&M?

UTx's recruiting woes have NOT been voluntary. When they were passing on those QBs, aside from Winston, they were still raking in top 5-10 rated classes. They were still the first pick for recruits in Texas. Not anymore. Even if you believe that the recruiting services overrated their old recruits due to a pro-UTx bias, the fact is even with that bias still going strong, they aren't getting close to the same quality of recruits, according to all the sites.

Before, their recruiting problem was just evaluation and subsequent development. Now their recruiting problem is they can't get the guys they want. Most of that is A&M taking first pick, w/ LSU/Bama taking a few, too (Maea Teuhema, Deionte Thompson), though Baylor has seen their recruiting skyrocket as well (as I'm sure you know).

The really interesting thing isn't the recruiting of UTx. It's the recruiting of OU. Last year they had just one signee from among the top 50 recruits in Texas. They usually have 8-9. Stoops has been forced to recruit much more nationally than in the past. Sooner fans know this. Some of them think it's by choice, but a few understand OU has just been pushed out of Texas to a large degree.

Just looking at this from an outsiders perspective, and reading all these conference related comments of fans from the current Big 12 and it's former members, it seems to me the general consensus is that Texas is run by idiots that think they walk on water. I remember how D Dodd said TAM will be a middle pack team at best in SEC, but if they stayed in Big 12 they would be 3rd best. Thus announcing to the media how much stronger the SEC was to the Big12.

The attempted strong arm on the PAC12, the LHN, the Saban/Mac fiasco. The comments a big booster made about Strong. Just unbelievable.
