There were a few factors that figured into our improvement this season, but I absolutely believe that the SEC was a crucible which forged a stronger team.
The players had heard from media and fans for months about they'd never match the physicality of the SEC this year, or anytime soon.
It was obvious from very early in the game against Florida that they were motivated by that.
No question the SEC toughened us up a bit.

Sumlin brought a chemistry
It showed. A&M is both bigger and faster (it seems) than years past. I regret having to face them next year, but it'll be fun to watch, nonetheless.

The SEC might have had something to do with it, but more than anything, I think it's Sumlin. We had waaaay too much talent to have lost six games last year. These guys are just so much tougher mentally.
And Snyder has been a god as DC. He's taken very questionable talent (and zero depth) and made a respectable defense out of it.

Blake Bell turning into a non factor in that game pretty much answers that question
This
OU has continually used their "Belldozer" successfully all year.
When they ran it twice in a row and we stopped them, you could see that they were defeated.
SEC play had us ready for that and we thank you.

Sumlin gets a BUNCH of credit. For reasons that will never be completely known, Sumlin had the courage to sit Christine Michael for basically his whole senior year. Sumlin made it obvious that if you didn't do things his way, you don't play.
That type of conviction rubs off on the team.
