So those are buckeyes. I always thought they were reefer leaves.

They aren't buckeyes. They are the leaves of the tree that gives us buckeyes. It's a relative of the chestnut tree for those that may not know.

I think they should just not re-paint the helmets every game. Let the battle scars and gashes tell you who's doing the most hitting.

A Buckeye is a tree. There are lots of them in Ohio. I can't explain many mascots. Crimson Tide??? No tidal activity in Tuscaloosa on the BLACK warrior river than I know of.

Most of the schools that have done it forever Im used to it and therefore like it. Illinois (I grew up in champaign) just started doing it, and it looks like garbage.
I think the truth appears when you think of it this way:
how would you feel if major schools that do it stopped?

personally If OSU, FSU, Mich St, Georgia stopped, I wouldn't care. If Alabama, Notre Dame, Penn St, LSU started, I would barf.

All 3 of these teams have something in common when it comes to uniforms, they all have stayed with their traditional look. That's why this is true. I'm surprised MSU doesn't have helmet stickers.

Opposed. It puts individual achievement above "team."
My HS gave stickers. I did not put them on my helmet.
Used to give them out to my high schoolers and it was all based on team goals not individual players making a play.
