Pittman is great. Chaney is bad. You'll be a bit better off than with Shittenheimer but it's nothing to get excited about. I hope you hate good play calling in the redzone, because so does Chaney.
Chaney is good if you want to throw around the ball a lot but he gets wayyy too pass happy at times. And yeah, his redzone calling is odd. He's not a run first OC tho.

Here's the Total Offense ranking for all of Chaney's teams since returning to the college game:
2015 Pittsburgh 76
2014 Arkansas 99
2013 Arkansas 49
2012 Tennessee 18
2011 Tennessee 104
2010 Tennessee 75
2009 Tennessee 60
Now remember that Prof said he gets too pass happy at times and ask yourself "how can a pass happy OC put up such bad numbers?"

Pittman is out best assistant. Lights out recruiter, great developer of talent. Not worth being stuck with Chaney though. Check out Chaney's all time record as an SEC OC.

What's the backstory story on these two being attached at the hip?
Did the same plastic surgeon do their fake titties? Those are fake, right?

Not an Arky fan but Pittman was also our OL coach a few years back. He did a fairly good job, and him and Chaney were two of about 3 or 4 coaches on that staff that weren't entirely incompetent.

We had both of them before Arky so I'm going by what they did at UT. Chaney's offense at UT was great but not effective -- eye-popping numbers and production but the team just couldn't win. We had a lot of games where 50+ points weren't enough to win. There was no ToP strategy to rest the defense or control the ball or preserve a lead. However, I can't complain about how outrageous the passing game was just that it got in the way of winning at times (pretty passing numbers but not enough wins).
That said, we also had no running game at all when Chaney (and Pittman) were here. Had an awesome Pass Pro line tho but Pittman was only here for a year (Chaney longer).
Chaney seems a very odd hire for UGA given they like Arky want to run the ball.

Lots of 3 and outs. 300-400 passing yards, no running yards, and lots and lots of 3 and outs.

Pittman is as good as it gets. He's a great hire for UGA.
Chaney is horrible and Dawg fans are going to hate him soon enough.

I don't know if I'd say he's horrible but he'd probably fit better in the B12 than the SEC. I will put this way: after years of watching us fail to run the ball, I jumped for joy when the very first play of CBJ's career was a giant run by Rajion Neal. The fact that I even remember that play is due to us never running the ball let alone effectively with Chaney.

Lol. Georgia getting Dooleys scraps

Simply put, he sucks
He is a huge reason Arkansas had a 17 game SEC losing streak.
Look at it this way...In 2014 Arkansas had a top 10 nationally ranked defense...Arkansas was tied or had the lead against...Auburn, aTm, Alabama, Miss State, and Missouri at halftime...
Now, do you know what all of those games had in common? ZERO(0) 4th quarter points...half of those second halves involved ZERO(0) points.
We had an amazing defense, but because his offensive play calling was so bad, we went 2-6 in SEC play.

Hate to see Pittman go... congrats to UGA, but crap.
The Chaney hire is a head scratcher.

You know, we actually had some pretty nice run-blocking schemes with Chaney last year. The problem was that he wouldn't use them and just wanted to throw the ball, instead.
It'll be very interesting to see what he does with all of Georgia's great RB's.

Yep that's Chaney. I mean he can put up great passing numbers but the run game is just so frustrating with him. I don't understand why he's allergic to running. He makes Kiffin look like a run-only OC.
I don't know how Smart will handle that. Maybe he'll be able to rein him in but if Bert can't get him to stop despite the style of ball he coaches, I don't know that Smart will have better luck. It would be a shame to see UGAs RBs go to waste (well, except against us then Chaney can do as many 3 and outs as he can muster and I'll support him ).
The thing is though UGA does have the athletes to run a high powered offense so maybe it will work but I remember the pace we ran and the lack of ball control when he was here and while we had nowhere near a good defense (except for one year) that offense contributed to the defense sucking.

Pittman will have you a stud offensive line that will frustrating to watch when Chaney wastes it away with poor play calling.

Sad, but true. This was Richts biggest issue in my opinion.

I'll put it this way
If you told Arkansas fans that the only way they could keep Pittman was to get Chaney back as O coordinator, the Hog fans would pack Sams bags and drive him to the airport

It actually wasn't just that he wouldn't use the run game, but also when he used it (or better yet, when he didn't use it, like in 4th and 1 situations). And I'm not sure it matters how much talent Georgia has, because he'd stray from the run game when it was working great. That's what made it so frustrating for us.
We could have ended our SEC winning streak long before we finally did, but Chaney's play-calling kept it going. I think Bielema likes to give his coordinators almost total control over their unit, but we finally ended the streak when Bielema started taking over the reign of our offense late in games. That may have caused friction, because Chaney left after the season ended.
Defending Chaney's offense is a matter of always expecting the unexpected. If it's a passing down, then you know he'll run it. If it it's a running down, then you know he'll pass it. Opposing defenses always seemed to understand this by the time the 2nd half rolled around and were always in position for it. Despite that, Chaney would continue doing exactly what they expected him to.
