Agree with OP. They reviewed it and the correct call couldn't have been more clear.

Had to be make up call by the replay ref for not reviewing the 4th down spot, because nobody can look at that replay and deny it's a TD.

Too much weight is being put on "the call on the field".

This times a billion. It's getting to the point to where whatever the call on the field is, that's what it's going to be.

As for the "makeup call" thing...want to call a phantom holding on us? Fine, I can understand that. But to take a TD away when there is proof for all the world to see doesn't make sense.

I'm done with this rant now-promise!

They probably would have upheld the spot on the 4th down too.

We never made the 1st down they gave us on that drive so it doesn't matter. State should have had te ball.

This happened in the NFL back when they used this type of booth official in the 90s, games became "inconclusive" fests and they eventually got rid of replay for 5 years or so.

Being trained constantly eventually gets these guys to the point where they are testing conclusivity of video evidence (I'd submit that it can almost never be 100% conclusive to all observers even on relatively clear plays) instead of being focused on making the right call based on the evidence.

that was also right after we got a VERY generous 4th down spot. i have no problem with us getting screwed cause msu got screwed a couple plays earlier

My thoughts as well. It happens and it didn't affect the outcome. C'est la vie.

Yeah it was a clear touchdown when you saw the replay, he had his whole hand and the ball in the end zone before the ball was knocked lose.

But A&M did get very very bad call in their favor on that 1st down a few plays back. So it worked out.

But it's not like either call affected the outcome of the game, so it doesn't really matter.

You think that's the purpose of replay? In the SEC, replay makes sure they get it RIGHT, not that they get it correct.

It was a puzzling confirmation, but like many others have stated, we probably shouldn't have been in the situation anyways.

Refing is just a questionable in the SEC as the Big 12. Saw a lot of really bad replay calls today in a lot of games.

Yeah but they gave y'all the 1st on the 4th down play, so it was a wash IMO

This is not even close to a wash. Touchdown trumps everything...

I don't care about this particular blown call.. I care that the refs are so bad that they would get something so obvious, wrong.. That is a scary thing to consider..

That long arse discussion only to have the ref say, "repeat first down..." Was frickin classic. The announcers said something along the lines of, "it took them that long to realize what we've known for 5 minutes???"

These refs just suck.. bad.

Just an observation because it had no real bearing on the game but y'all were guilty of Bama level holding on just about every play. Refs didn't call it except in critical situations but they will eat your arse up on holding calls next week against Bama.
