Yeah, but that's not in his house..

The guy who paid $47K for the helmet has it in his house so everybody knows he did it.

Any of you assholes can bring your friends to the Auburn trophy displays and point and say hey, I'm the guy who bought Cam, those really belong to me.. and nobody will believe you.

The guy who bought the helmet has something tangible.

"Hey bro, I want you to have the helmet I wore when I pulled off one of the greatest plays in Auburn history and ran the ball back for a TD on a missed field goal vs Alabama to win the game..."

"k thx. lol."

We need to see a pic of the $47,000 in green notes or solid gold sitting next to the 'lid'.

...which looks better?

Actually I believe you are allowed to keep a certain amount of things. Luckily the ball is in possession of AU Athletic department. That is the biggest piece of the play anyway.

I guess I thought it was sold off by the school to make some extra money for school-related (needed) stuff, not by a relative. Oh well, you would think Davis would want to keep that or give it to AU for safe keeping. Selling it seems kinda cheap and devalues it somewhat - like the Ohio State guys selling their rings.

Oh well, some AU and Bama fans are just nuts about such things - I don't get it. They will have a $5K painting in their mobile home.

I have nothing of that nature - never been a collector of sports things outside of baseball cards.

They can keep things that will not be reused for another player or they can purchase them if it will be reused at a discounted rate

Davis returned a missed 57-yard field goal by Alabama for 109 yards as time expired to beat the Crimson Tide. He also wore the helmet throughout the season, including the SEC championship game and the BCS title game.

I wouldn't trust it was the same one unless it went straight from the Bama game and was never worn again. Some Auburn equipment manager (or hopefully Chris Davis) is laughing his arse off with the real helmet on his mantle.

A stupid Honus Wagner card just fetched over 2M at auction last year.

That was arguably the greatest play in college football history. I'd wager the investment pays off...
