Has your team ever had a player transfer from your team to walk-on to your rivals team?

Well, miss state has had two different receivers walk-on to ole miss instead of staying on scholarship.

Malik Heath decided to come to ole miss after being the third best returning receiver only playing in ten games. He decided he was tired of losing in the liberty bowl and wanted to taste what winning feels like.

Jacobi moore spent one year at miss state and decided he didn’t like cows and cheese nearly as much as he anticipated. He was willing to leave a scholarship in Starkville after one year, and he will arrive in Oxford walking on as a redshirt freshman.

Receivers in Mike Leach’s historic dink and dump offense seems to feel they aren’t being utilized to their his fullest ability. So much so, that they are seeking refuge in Oxford Mississippi paying their own way.

Any other school ever seen players leave your team to walk on to your rivals team?

Uhmm, remember about 6 months ago when I posted MSU got wind of player tampering? I would be REAL careful about chiming in a post like this. Your program is always gonna be it's own worse nightmare.

Heath didnt play in the liberty bowl. His legs were crushed in a auto accident and he had to be airlifted a few weeks before the bowl game. good luck with that.

We've had a legacy transfer to another team and win the Heisman. It was an unforgivable humiliation that cost our then coach his job.

Corey Grant RB from Alabama to Auburn. Saban said he'd release him to anywhere but Auburn. Grant never told him where he wanted to go, so he walked in at Auburn.
quote:

Grant never received the release papers, and he never interacted with Saban again. Since Grant refused to tell Saban where he was going, he said he understands Saban was trying to save himself by holding them. After all, he did end up going exactly where Saban didn’t want him to.

But by transferring to Auburn, Grant automatically had to sit out year because of NCAA transfer rules. Saban’s decision to withhold his scholarship meant he’d lose money in addition to playing time. He’d have to walk onto the Auburn team and pay his own way that first year and then until he earned a scholarship.

I am unaware of any walk-on status.

But Cade Mays left for Tennessee and got abused (0-3) and Brenton Cox left for Florida and saw joy in the 2020 victory over the dawgs. I hadnt heard any comments since he got to watch the dawgs win a championship without him.

Leaving and then watching the team you left win a natty has to sting a bit.
