Has the Alabama/Auburn rivalry lessened in your opinion?

With all that has gone on with Harvey Updyke killing the trees and Bama donating money, then the tornados and both schools helping each other out, it seems that the universities have come together.

All that will end when football season starts...

Until September.
I'm not going to try and kid myself. I know there are a few AU fans out there that are tired of hearing about the tornado. Just like there were Bama fans out there that could give a crap about some trees. FTR, the two aren't comparable in anyway.
There is no doubt in my mind that the talking heads will try and convince you different but as soon as we tee it back up all bets are off.

the schools are closer to be sure - but the rivalry hasn't lessened a bit - in fact IB2011 will be just as heated and feirce as it is any other year.

I think it is still one of the greatest in the country, but you can't ignore the human element.

I'm tired of hearing about the tornado and I'm not even in the state of Alabama and I don't cheer for either team. I just pray that all will be well amongst the people struggling, but there's not much more we can do besides donate money for relief and give a helping hand. IMO the Rivalry has only simmered a bit, and it will be back up to substance rather quickly.

Only a dumbass from "outside the family" would ask such a question.
Go back to playing Nintendo. Alabama and Auburn will always be the fiercest rivalry in all of college football.
Auburn.

a reason to come together was what the rivalry DESPERATELY needed [even though the way it came together was horrific]. as I'm sure you observed, it was getting way out of hand.

I got tired of all the "let's pull for bammer to win the NC for tornado stricken Tuscaloosa" real quick. I hate what happened to Tuscaloosa, but giving bammer some sympathy points in the NC race isn't going to happen with me.

I agree with this to an extent. But unfortunately, the lunatic fringe of both fanbases is still out there. A simple venture over to ITAT or bamamag will show this.

It was getting out of hand, and it will continue to escalate now that AU is back to being relevant again. Now that both teams will be on the national scale frequently, it will only continue to get worse.

yeah i never said it was gone. there are still crazy people out there. but, trust me, alabama doesn't want sympathy points from rivals. it wouldn't be the same.
