We're doing this to dodge the amusement tax the city of Knoxville has levied. Plus it's in an NFL stadium in the heart of Tennessee.
It's a de facto home game.
Why do you even bother? The guy's clearly a fricking idiot

Not a bad idea to schedule a game in Nashville every couple of years at all. They play Vandy of course, but an early season game at an NFL stadium against a decent but beatable opponent is a nice way to get some attention.

It really is. I just looked up their future schedules and they will be visiting MTSU, Wyoming and UConn in the next few years
It's a mystery to fans as well. Not sure why we keep playing crappy teams on the road that most fans can't or won't travel to.
Perhaps the only positive is getting a "road game" experience against a cupcake in prep for future travels.
Not enough to offset the overall crapiness, but at least a possible reason.

^this. UT playing a game in Nashville isn't much different from Arky playing a game in Little Rock.

We could replace the auto win against Tennesse with them if we were not forced to play them every year.

If you call "anger" exasperation at idiocy, then yes.
