I think the less thoughtful LSU fans are trying to maintain the point that Alabama's schedule doesn't garner a #1 ranking. That said, LSU's schedule doesn't garner a #2, or #3 (now) ranking... Both teams are ranked where they are based in part on last year, and probably the overall trend of the past few years.

It's just how it is. Had LSU won last year in the BCSCG, or had LSU not lost as many players this year, chances are the Auburn win, while ugly, wouldn't have resulted in as much of a drop.

You are supposed to rank people depending on how good they are. Everyone thinks Alabama is the best team in the nation. Get over it.

It's an opinion poll. It's perception at both the beginning and end of the year.

You might want a do-over though. You aren't doing particularly well in this one.

Well, you asked a question that's easily answered by doing research and doesn't require a thread, unless you are entertaining the idea of analysis and debate. Most people who start threads realize that the evolution of discussions lead to self reflection of one's own team. You can't control answers you don't like by creating a narrow subject and then bristling when a negative observation ruins your flame.

It's implied by your topic that you don't think Alabama deserves the #1 ranking. This leaves rooms for other implications that may be brought by posters, including a question about your own team.

Unfortunately, flaming and trolling is what the vast majority of posters love to do on this board. Bama deserves their #1 ranking regardless of who they have played. They look like an efficient, well oiled machine. I hate Bama, but I love the way Bama plays the game.

I have no problem with pollsters ranking LSU lower based on last night's performance. The close game is meaningless as long as LSU takes care of business over the next 6 weeks. LSU plays Florida, South Carolina, and Alabama in the next 6 weeks. It's all about how LSU performs in those games. The ranking will be there if LSU wins.

But until everyone starts playing each other, it's a flame fest based on who everyone has played and how they looked doing it.

Well said. I don't think anyone should be ranked until week 6 anyway, but that would mean less money for the people who run everything.

I'm not one who puts much stock into a bad performance for a team, especially when it's clear that a team has the talent. LSU can use that game as a gut check, and if they are good, Miles won't have any trouble keeping them focused for the rest of the year.
