An oversimplification of a complex matter on my part and not relevant perhaps. I made the point because many note that with some notable exceptions, the SEC mirrors to some degree the geographical confines of the Confederacy.
Apparently, a convention was held with the authority to secede from the Union which took upon itself the unwarranted authority to form a new set of legislators and government that was deaf to the pleas of the state governor. This, and the machinations of Lincoln supporters to keep Missouri in with Federal military backing was what I was getting at.
As it was, a pro-secession convention was convened that voted for leaving the Union that was recognized by the Confederate Congress admitting Missouri as the 12th CSA member in November 1861.
Given my oversimplification, your lol what? was justified.
Anyway, Mizzou is in and it's a good fit in my opinion. Just thank the good Lord it wasn't someone like Kansas or Kansas State.

Your opinion was better when it was part of the silent minority.

Virginia Tech would have been a perfect fit. Slide them right into the east, their fans and game day are very similar to SEC material. They are close to UT and would also fit well to Kentucky.
Why do people keep mentioning these schools. They DON'T want to JOIN THE SEC!!!!. People act like schools are fighting to join the SEC. VT could have easily elected to join the SEC like TAMU, Mizzou, WVU wanted to. They could have easily made it publicly known they wanted to leave the ACC. Are they that broke they can't afford to pay their buyout?? Maryland left the ACC for the B1G, why didn't the other ACC schools like VT, Virginia, NC, NC State leave the ACC for the SEC??? Wanna know why, they don't want to join the SEC. Simple as that.

"Mizzou won the damn SEC east last year

They would have finished fourth or worse in the SEC west.

yes for winning the east and taking the abuse like champs...and for embracing the greatness of the sec and stepping up the interest ...look at tulane and georgia tech that left the sec - where are they now?

They don't really have any long-term history of success in any sport
So we're right on par with the Mississippi schools, Vanderbilt, and Georgia.

their facilities are sub-par
Aside from our baseball & softball stadiums, calling our facilities sub-par is ridiculous.

and their fanbase is arrogant without reason
I honestly believe we have one of the most humbled fanbases in all of the major football conferences. Your opinion is being based totally on a few message board trolls - and that is hilarious how in your head they clearly are.

Not so sure - I think long-term the SEC will be perfect. Mizzou has been on the verge of breaking through for about a decade. I think the SEC move was enough to energize the fanbase and really put Mizzou football in a place where it can gain bigger, broader appeal. I think that has already been apparent by the $300 million expansion of our facilities and the run to the SEC championship last season. Also, I honestly think Mizzou has more in common with most of the SEC states that it does with New York or Pennsylvania. Time will tell.
