Has any team, baseball or softball, had a tougher road to the WS than Bama softball?

Final polls just released. Bama has Minnesota this weekend in the regional and at Florida for a Super Regional if they advance. Florida and Minnesota are a combined 101-8 on the season.

Bama board thread but it's the toughest draw I've ever seen.

Minnesota is 2-2 against RPI top 25 teams. They'll probably win the Tuscaloosa regional, but still aren't as good as a handful of teams in the SEC

I think the committee was clearly torn between putting Bama or Minnesota at #16 or #17. So they ended up putting them in the same regional, but gave the edge to Bama.

It could be worse. You could be #17, not hosting a regional, and headed to face the Gophers up in Minnesota this weekend with the hope of winning that regional and making it to Gainesville.

Yes, Minnesota.

Minnesota is having their best year ever. The crowd at Alabama might rattle them because none of them have played in front of 4500 people, but Minnesota will be fired up. And honestly this Bama team hasn't clicked all year. Osorio has carried them to this point.

Minnesota SOS is 114. The 16 host teams have SOS's ranging from 1 to 36.

This needs to be emphasized.

The Big Ten is a glorified FCS conference this season in softball. Just plain bad. That being said, Minnesota is very good.

I'm not sure I follow.

eta: That is one like five softball polls. They're not nationally seeded in the tournament. They've only lost 3 times and their RPI is still outside the top 10.

Yeah I'm going to say Bama's baseball team has a tougher road.

That was easy

They are not the #1 seed. They are the #17 seed which is why they are on the road at the #16 seed. 17 is at 16, 18 is at 15, 19 is at 14, etc.

I don't care who Minnesota has played or hasn't ...they are 52-3 on the year and have an All-American pitcher. They will be a tough out.

I think it's a joke that Florida (overall #1 seed) gets stuck with possibly playing them.

they may not be the number one seed, but it is absolutely ridiculous that the can be ranked number one in a legit poll and still be in the bracket with the number one seed. Bad for them, but also not very fair for the number one seed. The number one seed has to get past the number one team in the nation, or a team that is seeded higher than the number one team in the nation. That is just screwed up. Big time. And just wrong.

Also, they have what many consider the number one pitcher in the nation and POY candidate. There is no circumstance where this is a legitimate bracket.

So, the committee found a way to give the best chance to ultimately screw both Florida AND Alabama.

Meanwhile ACC bully Florida State (most overrated team in the tournament) gets to play a Georgia team that cant win a game, and possibly an LSU team that is hot or cold. I really hope the SEC puts them out immediately.

Who do we play? On a side note, it was cool of Dawn Staley to hang out with our softball team when the seeding was announced. Glad it was her and not Holbrook...we'd have been left out fo'sho just from his stank arse being nearby.
