I think they'll jump Stanford on most ballots since they would have actually won their conference. But yeah probably not 100% of them.

i think so too. I think now that pressure is off of OU, they will perform like they are supposed to.

They probably didn't want to watch a team that had lost to unranked Arky IN THEIR HOME STADIUM in 2007, but that's what they got.

Aren't they playing for the Big XII or X or whatever championship and a BCS bowl?

yeah, but OU has won like 48 straight Big12 championships. Easy peasy....it's the national race that they always choke in. And they're out of the national race.

He also fails to talk about 2001 Nebraska when they didn't even win their division and beat out #3 - and Big 12 Conference champions - Colorado by the slimmest of margins. And no one in America thought Nebraska was the second best team in America.

Whatever floats his boat though.

So you agree it was wrong them, but it's ok now because it's alabama?

I'd rather see that than a rematch with a team that lost at home to their future opponent 9-6 already

Because of 1 guy's opinion? Maybe they get to 10 voters this week. That would be doubling their total so far.

Problem is they need 60-65.

I just have trouble wrapping my mind around why people would have an issue with OSU being given the shot.

Think of it this way...There is only ONE WAY that the season could end with no controversey, and that is to allow OSU the shot at LSU. If they are left out, the argument could always be made that "maybe Oklahoma State was the best team in the country in 2011 but they never got the chance to play in the title game."

If Bama is left out, there is no controversey IMO....Alabama fans might say, "we were one of the 2 best teams in the country and got left out." But that argument is quickly defeated when you consider that LSU beat Alabama...."You had your shot against #1, and lost."

I just don't see how anyone can argue that Oklahoma State doesn't deserve to play for the title, assuming they beat OU. We will NEVER know if OSU is better than Bama/LSU if we don't give them a shot. We already know LSU is better (even if it's just on the scoreboard) than Alabama. And even if we assume that LSU and Alabama are "equals," the scoreboard is all that matters in the end.

The guy is actually very anti-LSU... or anti-LSU fans. I like what he's saying here, but the fact that J-Bird saying it makes it clear that the opposite is bound to happen.

Maybe... But I bet those Big-12 refs will be serving up some serious home cooking.

And there's still Stanford who will steal 3rd place votes from coaches and voters out on the West Coast.

I bet the PAC-12 voters will bump OSU over Stanford just to avoid an all-SEC championship game.

Furthermore, when you look at the coaches poll, most of their ballots during the season are probably filled in by people in their AD offices (as the coaches just don't have time). Things can change significantly on the last poll. I think if OSU beats OU they're in.

I don't think VaTech and Stanford will be as much of an issue as some people think.

When push comes to shove Saturday night and Sunday, pretty much all voters are going to be deciding between Bama and Oklahoma State. Every reasonable person knows that VaTech and Stanford are out of the title race, so most voters will place them accordingly....out of the title race at 4 or lower below LSU/Bama/OSU.

I also believe that you will have some "negative" voting...Whether right or wrong, I expect to see more people negative vote Bama than people that negative vote OSU.
