Harder Melt: Missing the playoff ranked at #5 or first round playoff loss?

Miss St, Ole Miss, Auburn, and Alabama, UGA...
Would you melt harder if you missed the playoff completely because you were ranked outside of the top 4 by a few spots or if you lost in the first round of the playoff and missed out on the National Championship game?
Other fan-bases that have no shot, feel free to chime in as well.

It depends on if after being left out we destroy our bowl opponent.

Being #5 probably. At least we would have a shot being in.

I'd be giddy as frick if we were to somehow get in so I'm gonna have to say #5 would be difficult to cope with.

With the #5, you will always have the "yeah but what if" argument. With a playoff loss, you won't be able to argue.
