quote:I am thinking his recruitment would have been while Brewer was still there and Archie didn't care for him; not Tuberville. But, it was a long time ago.
It was a combination of things but the biggest was that he and Archie did not like Tubberville.

Ole Miss.
Sanctions, Cooper getting hurt, UT being an elite program, Ole Miss not being good, and Cutcliff at UT are the 5 reasons he went to UT.
None of those things are still the case (minus Ole Miss sanction possibility).

Ole Miss. Zero doubt about that. He wanted to go there anyway but just didn't want to get beat to a pulp and wanted to play for a "national" program. Even with that, I'm still a little surprised he didn't go there but yea, Ole Miss and there wouldn't be any others on the list.

quote:Maybe. But Tuberville was the DC at A&M during Peyton's recruitment. Brewer started the 94 season and Joe L Dunn finished. Tuberville came in 95
Tuberville being a douche,
ETA: and to set the record straight on Tuberville being a douche, that only occurred after he left Oxford in a pine box. Before that, he was a hero. After he left though, the streets were pretty stained with the snake oil he left behind.

Yea, You also had the sanctions coming. Not sure how much the Tubs thing played into it because his recruitment was Billy Brewer. Coop playing probably would have swayed him but the best high school QB in America wasn't going to Ole Miss.
Remember, this is before the days of EVERYONE being on TV. Ole miss would have some JP games then but being on national TV was an extreme rarity. UT was a national broadcast 4 or 5 times a year in addition to JP. ABC had the rights to the SEC (along with all other conferences)in 94 and ESPN did not solely televise SEC games on primetime saturday night. CBS didn't have the SEC then and ESPN had not signed an SEC deal so Ole Miss might be on JP twice a season and never on ABC or ESPN.

That is because the trashiness and irrelevancy of Ole Miss reminds you of home.

I don't think he would go to Ole Miss.
He wanted to make his own legacy.. Don't see him going there at all.

I agree with most posters in the Ole Miss assessment. Given the wide consensus on the subject, Ole Miss will probably consider hanging a banner.

Tuberville wasn't at Ole Miss until Peyton's sophomore season

Now you edit. Everyone saw what you did, "Jared Winslow". You have 6 posts, and you're already done, it's over.

His big bro was already at ole miss, only reason he didn't come was because we got caught being cheating bears
was certainly one of the reasons, but Tennessee was also a much better program than Ole Miss at the time. Cooper getting hurt also had an effect on his decision
