I guess that is what confused me about the OP. USC curb stomped Alabama that year as did Ole Miss but the Bear says the worst "physical beating ever" was a 14-9 loss.
1970 was a strange year. OM beats the crap out of Alabama, then LSU beats Alabama, MSU beats an Archie"less" OM then LSU beats OM like 6,100 to 17 (embellish here) with Archie in a cast.

yea, man. this will happen. i liked and hated the bear at the same time. bama fans don't want to admit it, but if not for the bear, their program would be a lot different. it would be slightly above average. w/o saban, they wouldn't be shite.

You could say that about every top ten program. What's your point? A program is only as good as the coach they employ.

Straight from the arse's mouth.

"We were really horsewhipped. We had a lousy defense. We did not expect anyone to run down the field on us like they did, like they were playing a barber college. They toyed with us like children....They beat us every way known to man. They out-everythinged us. We were really fortunate. The Tigers deserved to beat us by more points than they did. Of course, it was like any other college football game. The difference was in the preparation and the coaching and there was a lot of difference today."

Bryant had been singing a different tune before the game. He had told reporters that that was his best defensive team ever at Bama. "We've got quite a football team now..you'd better believe it," he said.

The 25 point loss to Mizzou was Bryant's worst defeat at that time in his 11 year career at Alabama. The loss also ended Alabama's nine-year streak of finishing in the AP Top Ten. Instead, it was Mizzou that climbed in the rankings, finishing ninth in the AP poll.

In 1975, Mizzou took on the even tougher task of facing Bear Bryant's Crimson Tide at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. Bama was ranked #2 in the nation to start the year. The Crimson Tide was 43-1 in its last 44 regular season games. Wrote the Washington Post, "Bear Bryant thinks he may have the best team of his illustrious career."

Mizzou promptly raced to a 20-0 halftime lead and held on for a 20-7 victory at Alabama.

"All in all, it was a good ol' country beating," Bryant said. "I think we were fortunate not to be beaten worse."

I think you actually believe this stuff now. Bryant was the biggest pour-mouther in coaching.

Really, gramps?

Take Bear's Bama W-L record away, Bama is 366-161-34 prior to, and 221-117-1 after Bear. I'm pretty sure that this includes the vacays. Bama's record excluding 1959 through 1982 is 587-278-35, or a 0.6522 WP excluding Bear's record.

LSU's WP all-time?

0.6268.

What was that again, gramps? Slightly above average?

Saban will be complimentary as well next year. Which might make your team feel better while they're getting their asses stitched up at the hospital.

You might be the sole reason i want missou to lose every game. Cause you might be the biggest cocksucker on this board.

And thats saying alot.

I'd say 1969 and 1970 were bad years. We went 8-2-1 in 1967 and 8-3 in 1968. Sub-par years when you take into account 1960-1966, but far from mediocre.

When Mizzou beat Bama in 75, I believe they were 41 - 1 up to that point.

That's what my daddy always said. When Bama lost a game, Coach Bryant would start taking all the blame upon himself. He would make those boys feel like crap for losing the game and made them feel like they had beat up on their poor grandfather.

Coach Bryant had poor-mouthing down to an art, reverse psychology; and it usually worked. The very next year after that 14-9 arse-whooping LSU gave us, Bama went 11-1 and were the SEC champions.

In fact, after that year, 1970, Coach Bryant took Bama on a run of a decade with eight 10+ wins (one undefeated), 8 SEC championships, and 3 national championships.

LSU beat Baylor 89–0 in 1908. I remember that game vividly.

I think he said this after the 82 game. This was the game where he decided he was too old to do this anymore and retired at the end of the season. I think he died within a year.

Nowadays, he would have had a bypass operation and would have lived (and maybe coached) many more years.

I remember Perkins suceeded Bryant, had weaker than expected bama teams, and he stated that Brynat didn't recruit as well as he could have his last few years (probably due exhaustion from his bad hear). The fans base raised hell at this comment. It was probably true, but a stupid thing to say.
