That's all true. No stat is perfect, obviously. But I do think yards per play gives a more accurate picture than most purely defensive stats.

While lsu isn't what we used to e in defense. We are a top 25 total defense and #4 in the sec in the sec in total defense.

Bolded are teams with more losses than 1...points are the only thing that matter.

Auburn isn't better than lsu. We played each other and auburn never got closer than 14 points.

Alabama's stats are slightly skewed because in most of their games the 2nd string defense is in the game the entire 2nd half. Otherwise it'd be even lower.

The 4 teams that played A&M's offense in bold, for the sake of curiosity.

But that was a 3 point game decided at the end of the game. Lsu auburn was an as slicking the emote game. Like I said, auburn never got closer than 14. Not once.

You are pratically guaranteed a first down or points every other play.

But that doesn't mean a defense on a team that allows fewer points is better than a defense on a team that allows more points; some defenses have to defend more plays, and some teams have bad special teams, or offenses that turn the ball over a bunch.
You could break it down to points per play then

LSU won but the game was decided on 2 busted plays and a bobbled punt at the 10, in the rain, at the front of the game. LSU wasn't beating Auburn up and down the field like you are trying to claim. The OM loss was still more embarrassing.

Bruh lsu was running auburn off the field until our coach took his foot off the gas. It was 21-0 before lsu even had to convert a third down. Come on. As far as the plays you mentioned, yeah it's called football. Sorry your players sucked

At the half auburn had 100 yards of offense. And in the forth quarter it was a 21 point lead until 5 minutes left auburn scored a bs score.

Here's a really cool stats about the expected point value of a drive (based on where it started on the field) versus the actual point productivity (Unfortunately, it's way out of date):

The OM loss was embarrassing but we kicked yalls arse no way around it. Yall never got closer than 2 touchdowns from 9:56 on. 150 of yalls yards came in the 4th when we had the second string in. Mett tore yall up and he threw only 3 passes in the 4th 1 of which was for a touchdown. Thanks in advance for beating bama to put us in the SECCG though.

The standard defensive stat that people traditionally use to rank Defenses is total yardage given up (Total Defense) But this stat skews severely against teams who play against uptempo and pass heavy offenses. Yards per play is a stat that attempts to compensate for tempo but still rank defenses by yardage. Both of these stats are flawed in that yardage does not win games, points do, but given the option of total yardage and yards per play, YPP is a much better indicator of the quality of a teams defense. Just look at the OP list, who exactly is dissatisfied with the rankings YPP has indicated? It looks spot on to me.
