1) First time at State in 2012 an older gentleman and a bulldog comes up to me and commences to tell me that when he was a student there in 1955 every male freshman and sophomore still had to take ROTC.

2) State were the Farmers, then the Aggies, then the Maroons. God knows they couldn't stay the Farmers nor the Aggies (their superiors in either regard resided a few hundred miles westward [across the breadth of Louisiana {ergo not much}]), but how their student body decided to-- in 196X-- become The Bulldogs when they were in a conference with THE Bulldogs!
makes NO sense.

Don't understand the problem with #1. I think it's true.

State had been associated with a bulldog since 1905, including having a bulldog mascot on the field since the 30's. State had a bulldog mascot before Georgia did.

OK, but The Maroons was a far better name. I can't fathom voting to become just another bulldog or tiger or eagle or whatever as late as the 1960's.

To me it reeks of conformity for the sake of conformity. Like all these idiots on here who are always harping about Texas A&M's needing cheerleaders.

South Carolina has a combined winning record vs. the two Mississippi schools in football.

Mississippi State hasn't won a football game vs. South Carolina since 1999.

Way to manipulate data.

You may have a winning record over MS state but dont lump us in there when you have a losing record to us. Smell desperate

Thats one of seven congratulations for you and Usce what a mighty moment for you and your team to beat the mighty ole miss rebels.

This thread was about facts not skewed data that you try to push off as truth.

Your sarcastic tone indicates that you think Ole Miss is an inferior team. Why are you so down on your team?

Not really fact but my sister had a black friend who went to Ole Miss and played as a running back, but he transferred because that school's white supremacy was far too much.

And bear in mind, the high school she knew him from was also like 95% white in New York.

Best one nobody knows about. Mississippi is home to 2 nuclear detonations, the only ones ever East of the Colorado.
