today in the Saban/Dabo press conference Dabo was asked about players going into the NFL. Dabo said his things and Saban jumped in and the both addressed the fact that players should NOT receive their draft score until all of their competition is done for that year. Uf their season ends in November and don't go to a bowl then that is when they should be able to get it. Teams like ours should not get it until after the game.

A player could be negatively distracted if he doesn't get the score he expects or may a much higher score than expected.

I think both coaches did a great job of addressing a problem that I hope gets some traction.

Why should NFL GAF? Or the players? Motivate your team. This is their future employer being transparent with them. What if they give a kid who gets injured the last game a higher draft score than they expected, but it was too late?

Right and wrong in this situation isn't black and white. Motivate your team.

I agree that the NFL and CFB should work more in sync with each other. As of now their interests are not aligned in the slightest, which I think hurts both products. Pushing the declare date back would, in theory, improve the quality of the bowl games due to athletes not having as much distraction from the League. In addition, this could potentially cause the borderline-ready players to stay in school, thus lessening the potential amount of first-year "busts" in the NFL. Just spitballing though, because that's a lot of assumptions.

What if a key player expects to be a 1st rounder and gets a score of low 2nd round-high third round?....His head could be screwed up along with his family, friends and "advisers" in his ear.

Why doesn't Nick and Dabo make all kids that decide to play football for them, sign a contract to play all 4 years? Who gives a shite when they get their draft grade? If the coaches can't get them to play 100% on the biggest stage because of a negative or positive draft grade, that's on the coaches.

Saban is just wrong here. Players should have the right to that perspective on their status whenever THEY feel like they're ready to hear it. It make make his job harder, but anything that benefits the student athlete should be slanted in their favor

Agreed... just bc it makes a coach's job harder doesn't mean it's bad for the players.

This is such bullshite. How are you going to motivate someone that doesn't want to be motivated? They're coaches, not fricking hypnotists.

Now that the NFL has pushed the draft back to make it a television show, there's less reason to give out draft grades before the bowl season is over.

Let's suppose a offensive lineman is going to get a first round draft grade and one of these coaches still has him in the game in the early fourth quarter of a blowout, whether it be from not thinking or not caring. Now lets say that kid gets his knee torn up on a play where he shouldn't have been in the game to begin with and he ends up being at best a third or fourth round pick. Do you think Dabo or Nick is going to pay that kid the difference in money they are losing.

Because NCAA football is an elite farm system for them that is completely free for the NFL. The NFL needs to do everything it can to keep college football a top notch sport. No other sport in the world has such passion and devotion along with high end training and coaching at the minor league level.

Football is more passionate in the USA, but around the rest of the world soccer is king.
