Here is some food for thought:

Bo Jackson is the SEC All-Time "Career YPC" leader at 6.6 yards per carry.

The minimum number of carries is 400. Felix Jones falls 14 carries shy of the minimum.

If Felix Jones gained ZERO YARDS for an additional 14 carries, he would still surpass Bo Jackson's #1 spot by a full yard, at 7.6 YARDS PER CARRY.

Most of the Bo Jackson love comes from a "what might have been" perspective. That same perspective can be applied to Felix Jones, but never will be.

No, no he does not. The 2nd best back in SEC history, by the numbers, is Darren McFadden.

McFadden SEC Rankings:

Yards gained

Game: 321 --#1
Season: 1,830 --#2
Career: 4,590 --#2

Yards per Rush

Game: 9.44 --#3

All-Purpose:

Game: 355 --#4

Season: 2,310 --#1

Career: 5,881 --#2

Career Yards per Game:

154 --#3

Career Yards per Carry:

5.85 --#5

650

And another Felix/Bo fun fact:

Felix Jones is the first NFL back to hit 400 yards in under 50 carries since........Bo Jackson.

I don't think so when considering who else was up this year

Suh was the most impessive candidate by far. It should have been a defensive player year. If Suh didn't win it against this type of competition they should forever call it an offensive award and at that make it for best QB, RB, or WR.

Really? Because his #1 slot in the SEC Season YPC, at 8.8 YPC, over 5,000 APY, and career YPC mark of 7.6 YPC, and 3 All-American honors in 3 years says he is.

I'd actually say he was at teh same level as faulk but he was playing at the same time with McFadden.

And you have Jamal Lewis? come on now.

Well as far as an athlete, Bo will always be considered one of the best of all time. I mean to have the option of being a 1st/2nd round MLB or NFL pick, or running in the Olympics is insane. We can crunch the numbers all we want to, but the truth is Bo spread his time and talent in several different areas besides football.

i like these debates, we all have a little homerism.

but one thing we can agree on, i think, is that we would take any of these sec legends and be happy about it.

I wonder what the difference would be if McFadden had gotten to go the Cowboys and Jones to the Raiders. It almost kind of sucks from a NFL career stand point McFadden was the #1 guy in college.

Why does this always have to be an either-or thing?

Faulk was amazing. So was Bo. They were very different backs.

For pure athleticism...speed and power combined...you can't beat Bo Jackson.

However, if you want that all-purpose back who can catch and block, how could you not pick Faulk?

If you wanted more of a pure speedster with QB like smarts, go with D-Mac. If you want a back who will just run over or through everybody, Herschel Walker no debate.

Why are we always comparing these guys? They are all awesome.
