On Bielema: That's why I picked him as my favorite head coach, the program trajectory, any player can look across the country and see that Arkansas is on the uptrend. And for them to get Ricky Town in and I think any quarterback will want to play behind this run game. And being efficient, you can look great in this offense just being efficient. I think that played into it to, not just the program going the way it's going.

He gave Arkansas major props and spurned Saban, the guy that recruited and coached him, at the same time.

McElroy actually had the first pick for coaches, but I think Bert is a damn fine coach and will make noise soon

I like Bielema too, but I don't think it's possible for Arkansas to trend anywhere but up.

First off I'll congratulate you on your victory last year. Was a tremendous game played by your squad. 16 more in a row and the series will be even.

My question about this quote is wondering the relevance. Was he making his statement is reference to the program trajectory compared to LSU, Alabama, and Auburn or from their previous position when John L. Smith was in charge?

I understand the struggles Arkansas has, but this comment and those that point to the lack of success recently in the SEC for Arkansas are historically inaccurate. I remember watching Auburn go 2-10 in 2011 and then watching them play for a title in 2013.

Fayetteville is a beautiful part of the country and their fans have tremendous passion. Hope for continued improvement for the Hogs and a great rivalry.

Yeah, not really the same kind of situation. Malzahn came back the next year to coach the players he helped recruit, using the same system he installed on offense.

We basically didn't have a coach for an entire season and when Bielema came in we switched from pass-heavy to run-heavy offense. And under Petrino we didn't have the defense or run-game to eat clock with the lead in the 4th quarter.

Not taking anything away from Malzahn because what he did was still incredible

To each their own. I am of the belief that with the talent in Louisiana and the resources that LSU has, if we preform to the best of our ability we will achieve great success. I personally enjoy being pushed by other striving to achieve excellence. I have confidence that LSU's best is better than Arkansas' best. I would hope their fans feel the exact opposite. This is what separates us, and has for 50 years, as the greatest league to play sports in.

Arky fans have been on a hell of a roller coaster since the Petrino fiasco. I personally know a number of them and I am happy for them (even tho they absolutely hate LSU and I honestly don't know why).

maybe some of the Arky posters on here are good folks too. of course, maybe not.
