Getting rid of divisions?

I saw an idea the other day about adopting a pod-style schedule like the Big Sky has. In this schedule, there would be no divisions. Each team would have 2 permanent rivals and cycle through the rest of the conference in 4 years, playing every other team either 2 or 3 times. Would y'all like or dislike this? I would easily prefer this to playing teams from the east only once every six years.

I like. Hate the division concept. Take the top two teams in the league each year for the big game.

Would love that schedule format. Let the two best teams in the league play for the SEC champ game.

Can you imagine the LSU scheduling bitch threads with this system if they drew a conference schedule of:

Bama
aTm
Arkansas
Carolina
Georgia
Florida
Ole Miss
Vandy

?

It would be pretty cool but, what would determine who plays for the SEC title game? The top 2 in the conference?

I like the idea of being able to play for both a division title as well as a SEC title, but the current model of 6-1-1 is not sustainable. We are gonna have to either go to a 6-2 model with no permanent opponent or a 6-1-2 model with 9 games (preferable). If we can't get the AD's to agree to one of those, then yea, get rid of the divisions, have two permanent games and let the rest rotate with best 2 SEC records playing for the SEC title.

Bama: AU and UT
AU: Bama and UGA
LSU: aTm and Arky
aTm: LSU and Arky
Arky: LSU and aTm
OM: MSU and Vandy
MSU: OM and USC
UF: UT and UGA
UT: Bama and UF
UGA: AU and UF
USC: UK and MSU
UK: Mizzou and USC
Mizzou: UK and Vandy
Vandy: Mizzou and OM

UGA's would be UF and AU if they did this.

This is the way to do it, and all AQ conferences should be required to play in a conference championship game.

If divisions were eliminated, how do you choose between teams that have the same conference record?
In 2011, Georgia and Alabama had identical conference records.

Head to head would be the first tiebreaker. I haven't thought through how it would work after that.

Maybe take the top 4 teams and do a 2 game conference playoff. Pair the teams that didn't play a reg season game in the first round ... Last year

Bama vs UF
LSU vs UGA
