If you buy and sell on StubHub, get ready to pay the tax man. IRS proposing to lower the reporting threshold from $20,000 to only $600. You know sellers will just pass the cost of increased taxes on to buyers.

I can tell you something else you better get ready to happen.

All these digital tickets schools have started using. Right now you can transfer tickets from your phone to a friend or family member with no charge.

Within the next couple of years look for schools to start charging a "convenience fee". It will be small at first. Maybe $5 per ticket. Within 7-8 years it will be $25-30 per ticket.

This is being planned and will happen.

At least you can claim that as a net loss on your taxes! Sorry it was too good to resist.

Even as little as selling 4 Bama-LSU tickets will put someone over the threshold and require reporting it.

This convenience fee is the sign of the times: AT&T is now charging $5 as such a fee for calling in your payment. Mail in payment, no fee...yet.
