It's really the Big Four. 4 SEC schools have won a NC in the current century: bama, Auburn, Florida, and LSU.

It started with the 6 that won an SEC title in the 80s and then evolved into the 6 who've won an SECCG.

I said y'all could claim 77. In 76 MSU forfeited afterward, so you claim 5-1 in conference instead of 4-2. That one loss... 31-7 to UGA. Not sure why you think that is a valid claim.

Because both had the same SEC record. Same reason Auburn gets to claim 88 despite losing the hth to LSU.

No. Like it or not they earned it. Yeah, it's been a while but 1. they are usually close and 2. they have done things others only dream about even if it's been a while.
JMO but until others step up UGA is safe and even then I'm more apt to support adding a Big 6/7 member than to remove one.

I got ya. I was really just saying I don't understand why it's claimed, but I guess if the SEC recognizes it I can't blame y'all for doing it. I didn't realize y'all couldn't claim 77. Sucks because that was a really good season.

That's how things worked before the CG. Hth didn't matter, only conference record (s).

They might. It appears that they might not have been given a trophy for that year (better check UK's trophy case)--but after a while the SEC's media guide did eventually start listing UK's '76 team on its main list of SEC champions (now, it's unclear if whoever typed up that list for the media guide was even aware of the controversy or not since it was done years after the fact...especially since the SEC's media guide fails to give similar treatment to the 1993 Arkansas and Tennessee teams by retroactively naming them division champions after receiving the Alabama forfeits). Looks like UK may have gotten away with one here and Arky and UTenn didn't...
