... I hope he recovers from his stroke unscathed.
One of my all time favorite coaches and people. I met him some years ago, late 90s, he spoke at our TD Club - helluva man. I had spent some time earlier with him that day sort of as his guide/liason during his visit - carted him and his son around. Sat with him in the cart at one of our practices - Brad Scott days so probably '97 or so. He's just a good old boy, always reminded me a lot of Danny Ford but not the drinker Danny can be.
Anyways, so I am sitting there with him in the golf cart and he was waiting to speak to the team after practice and I ask him, "what do you think coach?"
He said, in as nice a way as possible in that calm voice of his, "I see one or two players out there that are SEC level players. Y'all have a long way to go."
He was telling the truth - we went on an 1-21 run over the course of the next two seasons.
Helluva guy though. I hope you Bama fans will keep us updated on how he is doing.
The man loves his Son.

Hope he has a quick recovery!
Not sure he is a great guy or coach, but everyone has their opinion of him. Yes, I have spent time with him in person (a hour or so).

If he does have to go, hopefully he can leave before seeing the disgusting inevitability that is the 2017 A&M season.

Pretty shitty thing to say at this time, but then you are a pretty shitty poster so it's not surprising.

I'm glad the first time I heard about it, it wasn't a troll. That's a damn shame. He was a great man, who did some great things.

He pulled a stint here as the HC of the St. Louis Cardinals and was clearly a principled man.
A man's man whom I'm sure his players loved because of their deep respect he engendered in them.
God's speed.
