Florida just isn’t all that good.

What does that say about LSU then?

Not as much as you think. The gators haven't lost a weekend series yet. No one gives a shite about weekday games after postseason play starts. The gators are a damn fine baseball team, and a loss tonight doesn't change that

Florida has good weekend pitching, but the mid-week depth isn't there.

Subtle. Very VERY subtle. Take notes, Rant. This is how it's done.

The turnaround for FSU baseball has been somewhat surprising. They were terrible last year.

Tell that to Billy Napier. He will need to make sure he doesn't go down the path of the baseball team.

Striking out 13 times vs FSU does not help. Florida stuck out 12, 13 and 5 times vs LSU. When they have better plate discipline they can hit but there are too many holes in the lineup for a post season run at this point. Loose enough mid week games and they will likely go to FSU or Miami for a regional or super.

My biggest gripe during the LSU series were the number of ball 4’s the UF batters swung at.

Win or lose, playing FSU midweek actually helps Fla RPI and SOS even with a loss
It's much better then playing Fla A&M or some other rent a win
At the end of the day the weekend is what really matters and it's reflected in the rankings

Florida always has an RPI advantage. First off, they play in the SEC, then they have ACC powerhouses Miami and FSU annually for three games (I wish FSU was an early weekend series). UCF is a quality Big XII school, Bethune Cookman in always in it for the SWAC, Florida Atlantic leads the AAC and USF is solid. Bottom line, Florida baseball is the best in the country and the Gators lead the way.

North Carolina baseball is better than Florida baseball and if you add SC then you can multiply that. Florida baseball is decent though.

This has been the Gators' approach for years and while I guess it works to get us into the postseason, it seriously sucks knowing we'll probably shite the bed on 2/3 of weekday games.

Have an upvote sir!

I know this isn't really an analysis thread, but I thought Sully's post game comments are fairly apropos.

quote:

Sully’s postgame comments:

-Says it’s the same story we’ve seen quite a bit this year on Tuesdays. Falling behind and poor at bats.
-We didn’t hit the ball very well tonite. Is upset that it’s the same thing over and over again. Spin the ball, spin the ball is all the pitchers are doing and we couldn’t hit it.
-Says the game turned in the 4th inning when he called for inside fastballs and we left balls over the plate and got hit hard.
-Says overall pitches weren’t executed. The 4,5, and 6 were innings where the pitching got us in trouble with not executing pitches and being able to get 2-3 batters out each.
-Sully says he’s probably going to change the practice schedule and practice on Mondays to be ready to play Tuesday. He says he’s seen enough. The focus hasn’t been good. They have never really ever practiced on Monday at Florida. But there are no more excuses for the way they are playing on Tuesday. Will now practice Monday and give the team off Wednesday. Hopes that the focus will be better on Tuesdays moving forward with a Monday practice.

Reminds me of Saturday football practice when we were fricking up in high school.
