Why would Florida need an indoor facility?

Thunderstorms. Seriously can't believe they don't have one. There are high schools here in middle Tennessee that have them.

Serious question, Gator fans...when you get a thunderstorm on an August afternoon...which happens fairly often...where do they go to practice?

I know, I was joking. I am very aware UGA does not have one. It's a little bit frustrating to say the least, but obviously not necessary based on the success that Florida has had. Granted, I think it rains just a little bit more in Athens than it does in Gainesville. Hopefully we will have one in the next year or two.

The only reason Mullen allows ours to be used.

We give all our recruits monogrammed golf umbrellas and galoshes with cleats.

God forbid they should ever get wet.

Pretty sure that poster was being sarcastic because It's kind of a joke that UGA doesn't have one, more so than UF because this is the first time I've heard of Florida's lack of one.

If you do build one, I hope MAC makes sure it is bigger than 75 yards.

No they do not. They may be the only school with out one. They also don't have football only offices.

We do have football only offices, they along with our weight room, recruiting rooms, trophy room, players lounges, etc. are incorporated into the stadium. We don't need a standalone complex with all the same features somewhere else on campus.

The IPF is going to be only that, an IPF next to the outdoor practice fields.

Oakland High School, Murfreesboro, TN.

Nice to see the Gators finally getting serious about their facilities.

I think IPF's have just never been seen as a necessity in Florida. Out of the NFL teams, the only one that has any sort of indoor facility are the Dolphins and it is just a bubble.

At this point the UAA realizes it is a recruiting necessity, so the project has been fast tracked and they're pushing for an end of Summer 2015 completion.

Right now it is not planed to be a full field. They want it next to the outdoor fields, and there is no way they can build a full indoor field and keep the existing outdoor fields. There is no space.

We lose very few practices annually due to weather. They do end up rearranging some practice schedules.

It will only be 70 yards due to space limitations.

LSU fans have no right to crack jokes about jorts...I think more are worn here than in Florida.

Guess how many sec and bcs championships UF won without one? It's cool to have but unnecessary.

That used to be the case. But rest on your laurels too long and it might be a long time before you catch back up.

Didn't I read that UGA has plans in the works to install a nice, full size one within the next few years?

The company I work for quoted for the fabrication of it. I'm not sure we'll get it. From what the architectural plans looked like, it looked pretty good. It's not as extravagant as auburns, which we also designed and fabricated, but it still looked pretty cool.
