If we had our normal sunday starter available we probably win. We only gave up like 2 runs after daniel was pulled. But thats baseball...people will just see that we lost.

SEC baseball is so fricking loaded this year.

Agree totally. Had yall swept them, us and yall would prob be argueing over the #1 spot in this thread.
Like you said, it's baseball. Yall may go off and win out leading up to SEC play and then this meaningless loss to WIU will be just that.
I think most posters are just having some fun with the Arky posters who were pretty boisterous in the preseason.

But you didn't so you lost. Tough shite

yeah, yall might have. I get that your coach sat players/some are injured, but to act like WIU is a good baseball team just because yall lost to them is ludicrous.

^this
We are talking about a program that won only 16 games last year, 20 the year before that, and 14 the year before that. They ARE NOT a good team or program.

maybe because they play ~100 more games in a season?
no sh*t sherlock... that's why they win (on average) one outta every four games they play.

Exactly. There's a reason baseball seasons are long as hell, and that's because you need a lot of games to truly determine who the best teams are. One series, let alone one game, doesn't mean much of anything in the long run.
Arkansas is a damn good ballclub.

All I see are pansy excuses.

my point was that comparing MLB to college baseball is comparing apples to oranges.

lol. Dude it's the first fricking series. Not only that, but it was on the road against a decent squad (not great by any means, but decent) that hates our guts. They MIGHT have more of an inferiority complex towards UGA than tech does.
So after the first weekend of the year we won't make it to hoover? Ok. I will guarantee you we make it to hoover.

Did yall play them in Statesboro or a NS?

Statesboro. It's the first time we've played GS in about 8 years and I believe this was the 2nd or 3rd highest attendance in their stadium history.
Certainly I would've liked to win the series, but I'm not putting much stock into losing it. And I'd say the same thing even if we had won it. It's the FIRST series, you can't really tell shite about how your season is gonna go from the first 3 games.
Btw we are going to be an average team, and I would be pleasantly surprised if we make a regional. I'm just saying to say we'll miss on hoover is laughable.

Western Illinois must be ranked number 2 then.
They have a solid ball club
Western Illinois Leathernecks 2011-2012 baseball record:
Overall: 17 - 35 - 1 Summit League: 7-17
I don't care if their recruiting class was top 5 (which it wasn't) in the nation. They are not by any means a "solid ball club"

and my point is that in baseball (more than any other sport), one game can be taken way outta context and doesn't necessarily accurately on the two teams, due in large part to starting pitching... but if you're cool with everyone blowing the first three or four games out of proportion, then go at it...

I've seen them in person. They aren't called Leathernecks for nothing.
