Would you say it's second best behind the one with Jeffrey lattimore (partly) Gilmore clowney and holloman?

It's hard to say.

We're still loaded, by comparison, at all those positions. I think, and even Spurrier has said, this may be our best OLine we've ever had.

I think this is probably the deepest, most talented overall team in our history. But what I think may prove more important is I keep hearing the chemistry on this team has the chance to be special.

Usually the difference between having a great season and winning something. Lots of teams with lots of talent. How they come together is huge.

How do y'all look at corner? Will This be an issue against TAMU/UGA/Mizzou/Clemson?

That's our big question mark. We always recruit well there, we've got what .... 13 DBs in the NFL right now and we've been putting DBs in the league for as long as I can remember so kids come here to play DB ... but we're gonna be young there.

Hopefully our DLine and LBs are good enough to take some of the pressure off of our corners. We'll still be very good at FS & SS and Spur ... but it is going to be an adventure at corner.

I'd say so

Its got less high end talent with Clowney, Shaw, Ellington, Quarles, and Hampton gone, but I think its a deeper and overall higher average talent pool than last year because we return so many players.

Also think theres potential for some break out stars to become household names, Pharoh Coooper and Chaz Elder specifically.

I think it will be an issue early in the year, but it will be fine by November.

If we move Brison Williams to CB from SS, where we have experienced depth to replace him I think it will be even less of an issue

I wish I had this optimism. I think the offense will be good, but that defense looks as average as it has been since Spurrier's first team. There's talent, sure, but a lot has to go right in order to win and do so consistently. If the O has a bad game early on, I don't know if the D will be able to win a difficult game.

I'm definitely one of the more pessimistic Carolina fans, but I don't think this year is going to be one to remember. I genuinely hope I'm wrong.

RoyalAir ... where specifically do you see the big drop-off on defense?

CB I get, we just don't know yet.

LB we should be as deep and talented as we've ever been.

DE ... we've recruited well there. Dixon looks to me to be in the mold of Norwood/Ingram. English is very solid. Both have a ton of experience.

DL ... in all my years we've never been this deep and talented and big up the middle.

The only real concern I have is us playing around with switching from a 4-3 to a 3-4, but in Whammy I trust when it comes to our D.

Definitely the secondary. We're missing that big-time leader back there, such as Allen or Holloman. I don't see a "quarterback of the defense" on the field like we've had in the past, so that is certainly concerning.

I actually like the switch to the 3-4, because it allows Ward to use his strengths (LBs) to mask some of his weaknesses (lack of serious DE).

Add this all together with the fact that I'm not completely sold on Thompson as an every-game starting QB, and I think that USC is going to take some lumps this year.

You certainly have more connections inside the program than I do, so I'll defer to your info. But this is the first year in a long time that I'm not eagerly anticipating football season. Could just be a shift in life priorities. Dunno.

Hard to say about us. While we believe Mason will be fine at QB, he does not have a great arm. It's good, notg reat. We'll have to wait and see if he can take advantage of their corners.
I think that early in the season we will be running the ball more and trying to wear down the defensive lines and LB's. Probably swing passes and short to middle routes more than tying to burn past corners.
