The thing I'm having a hard time understanding is why does anyone besides LSU and Florida care one bit what the LSU AD is saying?
Why is anyone else even listening to Alleva?
Because Alleva has sole decision making power to cancel or reschedule OOC games. If he refuses to do that, Sankey has no power under SEC bylaws to force his hand. And I hope people don't think this is a unilateral decision by Alleva. You can 100% guarantee this is a decision based on direction from F King Alexander, among others.

Sankey is powerless to force teams to cancel OOC games. He only has the power to cancel/reschedule conference games, per SEC bylaws.
Oh really? Which page?
I did find this nugget:
"The Commissioner is the official Conference interpreter of Constitution, Bylaws, Commissioner’s Regulations, and other rules, regulations, legislation and policies of the Conference and the NCAA;"
So yeah, if the bylaws don't specifically say that he can't do it, then yeah, he pretty much can.

6-1 will get us in

Well THAT'S rather circular.

When LSU loses to Bama, Ole Miss, A&M you can bet the narrative here will be, "Our team knew the SEC had conspired against them to prevent us from going to Atlanta. Our kids knew there was nothing to play for and weren't focused."

That doesn't explain why Gump and aggie are so bent out of shape over Alleva.

Not if Alabama or A&M is 7-1. LSU could beat both, but if one of them is undefeated in their other SEC games they'll go over LSU.
But the commissioner should declare both LSU and UF ineligible for the SECCG if they don't play this game.

they will slip up. it will happen just because it can.
lsu can't forfeit a game they were ready to play.
if this would have been at lsu and a hurricane was coming, we would have moved the game like we have before.

Those aren't the bylaws.

It's not like it would matter. You are in a fight for last in the west. You have no coach, no qb, a primadonna RB that doesn't want to play. Playing the game would be one more L for you corndog bugger eaters

I think the OP is exactly right. I hope that not playing the game completely jacks the final standings and Sankey catches even more hell. He's been a lousy leader through all of this.

I know a lot of my fellow Bama fans are trolling and I appreciate an LSU melt as much as anyone but LSU has every right to be angry over this situation. Other than the ridiculous comment about Alabama needing to play someone on their off week, I wouldn't handle it any differently than Alleva has. It's ridiculous to expect LSU to just up and cancel a home game and take the $10 to $15 million dollar hit to the BR economy and on top of that pay a buyout so they can travel to Gainesville to play a game that EASILY could have been played tonight or last night. You would have thought an atomic bomb had gone off in Florida the way some people are talking about the storm. It was a Cat 3 (which the Gulf Coast has been hit by several times) that didn't even actually make an official landfall in Florida and made landfall as a high end Category 1 storm in South Carolina.
