so apparently this happened yesterday evening -

@KendallRogers
BREAKING: Some big news in the recruiting world, as the
@NCAA
Division I Council has passed a revamped Baseball Recruiting Model that does not allow ANY contact TO or FROM a recruit or their family until August 1 of their junior year.
9:42 PM · Apr 13, 2023
quote:

@KendallRogers
MORE SCOOP: In addition to the new contact rule, the
@NCAA
Division I Council also approved legislation that makes it illegal for a coach to have off-campus contact with a recruit before September 1 of their Junior Year.

Both items will go into effect on April 26.
9:46 PM · Apr 13, 2023

this 'legislation' may have the right intent - but like most all things the NCAA does - it will ultimately backfire and keep a lot more HS kids from being recruited at all. the transfer portal just became even more significant than it already is.

You have to admit offering 8th graders was getting ridiculous.

Agreed. But why make a rule that you can't recruit a sophomore?

I predict lots and lots of total runs

To be fair Cade is a better pitcher than that he had to deal with a small injury but lately has thrown well

Man this is a hell of a lineup this weekend. We have top teams squaring off, rivalries and grudge matches.

-Carolina at Vandy - Whistler's vs the tarpists for the lead in the SEC
-Mizzou @ A&M - Big 12 ex-pat's and both solid teams
-Kentucky @ LSU - Small ball vs long ball (Skenes can only pitch one game)
-Vols @ Hogs - Who is who's daddy? (Hogs have had this one circled)
-UGA @ Fla - Cocktail party (UGa took series from UK last weekend)
-Auburn @ Bama - Iron Bowl (winner gets leg up on making the post season)
-Ole Miss @ State - Egg bowl (Battle of the last 2 national champs)

Hey there he is. Y'all need to get this Vols vs Hogs thing stirred up a little bit. It's a big matchup.

It was a battle last night to see if you guys would walk more batters than Kentucky, but you both ended up with 10. I will give UK pitching the nod for futility though since they also plunked 4 batters. Still far below the standard that UF set 5 days ago when we walked 18 Tennessee batters in only 8 innings.
