Yeah. It took him a little while to catch on, but he showed a lot of improvement towards the end of the season, and will be better this year.

I know they would never admit to it but I always wonder if C try to influence coaches when there is a QB battle.

They are the ones that have hands on thier asses so they should know who is clicking better and who is not.

You've got a good point.

and honestly, I'm not sure I remember how Kelly performed in the Auburn game. All I remember is the brothers Kwanjos' best impression of a turnstile.

Pretty even-handed and fair write-up IMO.

I would even say a tad pessimistic. With bama's schedule, losing 4 games is EXTREMELY unlikely.

RT: Austin Shepherd (Job security isn't strong)
RG: Leon Brown started the Sugar Bowl, but has limited experience.

Some of these couldn't be further from the truth. Arie K and Sheppard are pretty well entrenched. Shank will start at RG.

Kelly excels in line calls and pass protection. He doesn't have the push in run protection that Lindsay had.

This is the most honest assessment (9-4) that I have read. With the padded schedule it is underachieving at best. Great post.

Too much worry has been circulated following last Saturday’s scrimmage. That happens when you have more eyes on the field from REC members and donors who don’t view more than one practice…

The scrimmage did not provide much support for either quarterback with the running game. It wasn’t used often by design, and no running back stepped up to take pressure off of the quarterbacks. Both quarterbacks had numerous drops from the receivers that will absolutely kill any attempt at developing a rhythm. Both Sims and Coker can scramble and make plays with their feet. Right now, Sims is more apt to do so and Coker is trying to spend more time in the pocket to make his reads. Coker can be a real weapon when he runs and while Sims can break loose, he will need to cut down on “Happy feet” in the pocket during games…

Right now, Sims is better in the middle of the field and seam routes with his touch. He knows the offense and has done a good job. He does the same thing in practices but doesn’t make all the throws, although he has improved…

Coker is much better on out patterns and down the field. His arm strength is his weapon and as his knowledge of the playbook and recognition skills increase, so will his consistency. He hasn’t become as big of vocal leader yet and is trying to ease himself into that roll while winning over the respect of others. But he IS a likable guy and easy to get along with…

Watching practice, Coker has had some outstanding days. Sims has as well. There have been some average days, but no bad days. But when everything is scripted, you can make yourself look pretty good if you execute. It’s when things aren’t going your way or you are faced with situational downs that your skills and decision making will have to be displayed. Whoever can execute in game situations is who will run this offense. There will be a defining moment for one of these guys early and the light will come on and there will be no looking back…

And for all the concern in years past expressed by the coaching staff or Coach Saban over the OL, or DB’s, or depth or what have you, how concerned has he seemed this year over the quarterback situation? Aside from the continued questions on the matter…he just isn’t worried about it…

11-2 or 10-3 depending on QB play. If QB play is good then all bets are off

A'Shawn may be playing NT, so our DL would be a combo of either
Pettway Robinson Allen or Tomlinson Robinson Allen depending on what down it is.

Geno, Jarrick, and Landon could be the best all round group of safeties by mid season

I expect Jackson and Brown to start at CB with Cyrus Jones and Marlon Humphrey on their hip

Our starting LBs are Devall Depriest Ragland/Foster Lee

Robert Foster will be the breakout star

I expect an OL shakeup involving Grant Hill and Dom Jackson if Kouandjio and Shep aren't impressive in the first few games.

Special Teams will be much better this year. Chris Jones is one of the best returners in the nation, our new punter JK Scott is an upgrade. Griffith is an upgrade.
