I am curious to see how he does as a front-runner, and if he will have the same problems at OSU that he had at Fla. I think he has 2 things in his favor this time: 1) he has been there before and can look back at his previous mistakes 2) OSU fans are bigger homers than UF fans and will not question him if he starts winning games by a touchdown that should be a blowout.

He got super conservative in 2009 and was trying not to lose games instead of playing loose and aggressive. Of course he is normally pretty conservative anyway and would prefer just to run the ball. We were all so sick of the dive play by 2009 with our 2 little scatbacks in Demps and Rainey it was terrible.

UFM is not the end all, be all cfb coach...and neither is Saban. They are better than 98%+, but neither is without fault.

UFM's decsion to throw on 1st down vs. Bama with 2 minutes left in the game is probably one of the worst coaching decisions I've ever witnessed...that's something Les Miles would dream up.

In 2013, OSU is on TSUN 1 yard line, 1st and goal in the 4th qtr nursing a less than 1 TD lead with Carlos Hyde in the backfield..and he let's Herman call a pass...Braxton gets sacked..OSU backs up..misses a FG and comes away with nothing and the game is on the line instead of going up by 8+ (always good late in the game) A dumb, dumb coaching decision.

Each of these decisions could have backfired and OSU loses and we're talking about UFM in a different light. He's a gambler...he goes balls to the walls now...maybe something he got away from his last year in Fla...I'm happy as hell he's our coach...but you won't always win with balls to the wall mentality..there has to be a common ground.

The best thing about UFM is that he is showing no mercy..the eye of the tiger he had at Utah and Fla. in 2006 and 2008..and when he's got that drive..he's damn near unbeatable.

And he is.

Its when he loses that drive you need to worry. And for OSU fan's sake, hope he doesn't destroy your program like he did UF's.

And I'm also lol'ing @ Bama fans in this thread holding on to the fact that OSU lost to VA Tech.

Who gives a shite when OSU destroyed yall in the game that counts?

It's definitely plausible that he starts to stumble a bit after early success, but it's much harder to sink a program like Ohio State that lives in a talent rich state with no real in-state foe.

See: UF decline - FSU rise, Michigan decline - Sparty rise, UTexas decline - TCU rise

I am a student of the game of cfb. I played cfb and I watch and live cfb. I've lived in the south for 34 years. I am not such a OSU homer or BT homer that I can't objectively view the great football that has always been played in the SEC.

I know the situation at Fla. quite well. I think the Fla. fans' version of the state of the program left by UFM is incredibly exaggerated. IMO, Muschamp was a horrible D1 football coach that was 90% of the responsible party for where Fla. is and has been since UFM left. Every recruit on Fla. roster when UFM left was recruited by whose who in cfb. That their talents weren't developed, that they were not supplemented by the same caliber of new recruits, and that the whole team and coaching staff was nowhere on par with Fla. 2005-2010 is not on Meyer.

Muschamp, Mike Stoops, (Chizik..minus Scam Newton) Lane Kiffin....decent coordinators..some of the best around...absolutely horrible head coaches that can set programs back years.

Trust me, I know Muschamp was a horrible overall head coach

But Meyer's recruiting, especially on the entire offensive side of the ball, even in 08 and 09 before he retired and came back, with Tebow still there, was damn terrible.

Weis of course came in and attempted to install a pro-style offense with spread players, and that really didn't help, but the last legit WR that UF has had before Demarcus Robinson, was Percy Harvin and he was a 2006 recruit.

Muschamp was a disaster, but Meyer did NOT leave Muschamp a talented cupboard, at least on the offensive side of hte ball.

There's just so much outrageous conjecture here that nothing in particular stands out. It is just an awful opinion in general.
