To be fair, it isn't really about LSU, and I would argue that it targets a certain class of people.
You do see the difference between making fun of Gator fans for wearing jean shorts to formal events and bringing up an event that caused tremendous loss and death to nearly everyone in an entire region, right?
So yeah, bringing up an event that so many loved ones, homes and sense of normalcy were lost, is going to incite a few feels from that group. Doesn't have much to do with PC; the sign was designed to get a rise, and it did. It isn't even funny either, just in poor taste.
