Fournette is a true freshman right?

Correct, and he just went over 1000 rushing yards for the year on that run.

Prolly had to do with LSU fans claiming he'd win the Heisman (and meaning it), when the kid really wasn't even ready to play yet.

He's in the top-tier of SEC running backs with guys like Gurley as a true freshman.

Maybe he can finally become the strong but not elite back he is with lowered expectations from ridiculous LSU fans.

You serious RN?

I'd say Chubb is and he's a cut below that. Although he's shown flashes and has progressed nicely, so just let him grow into the elite category, no good will come over trying to force the issue.

Of course, this past week there was much discussion on tRant on how he couldn't outrun anyone, specifically defensive backs. That myth has been debunked.

Are you trying to convince LSU fans or yourself? You sound like a scared bitch

I'd take Fournette over Chubb, both are powerful but Fournette is showing some breakaway speed so far today that I haven't seen from Chubb yet.

My team fricking destroyed LSU this year, I really don't care. LSU people are just the worst about putting unrealistic expectations on their young talent.

MAybe the bust talk was premature...

5.1 ypc for the season before today says that talk was BS anyway. Kid did some growing up this year. Give him 25 touches a game next season and the results will probably be pretty damn good.

His first couple of games were really rough but probably was just nerves or trying to do too much, can happen when your coach compares you to Michael Jordan before you take your first college snap.

He is really coming into his own now though, having a very Gurleyesque performance out there today.

He's already a very strong back as a true freshman on a team without any semblance of a passing game. I think your idea of his talent level is as far out of whack as the people thinking he will win multiple Heismans.

You think my thinking that he'll be a solid #1 back for LSU who is in the discussion for the best back in the SEC is as ridiculous as people saying he'd win multiple Heismans before he got into a game?

Yes. I think your thinking he will simply be a "run of the mill" good/"strong" back given what's he's accomplished as a true freshman on a team with a horrid passing game against the nation's best defensive conference is as out of line as those thinking he could be a Heisman contender at some point.

He's already a very good back. I don't think it's any more ridiculous to think he improves as you seem to think that he will never improve.

I think he's a fine back whose career will parallel a multitude of other great backs in the conference. But I don't even think he's the best freshman in the SEC.

4.6 ypc against power 5 teams before today.

Think of his raw talent level when the following is considered:

1. Miles is very loyal to seniors in terms of touches.
2. By design, LSU doesn't feature a back.
3. LSU cannot throw the football.
4. He's gained over 1,000 yards.
5. He's a true freshmen.

Basically, he's been successful when all indicators say he shouldn't. The reports that came out of August practice said he was untackalable. Like many, I had visions of this guy just absolutely "going off" from day one, and when he didn't - and merely played well - there was a certain amount of disappointment. Looking back though - like even to the Wisconsin game - a person that knew where to look should have been able to see that this guy was very, very good. I think that because of the devaluing of the RB position, there's a decent chance he stays around a year longer than the norm. If he does, I do think that by the end of that final year, he'll be considered the best running back in college football, and that's mainly based on point 3 above. Good gosh, I cannot imagine what he would do if everyone in the stadium didn't know he was getting the football every time he's in the backfield.

I think he's performing exactly like the vast majority of LSU fans thought he would. He's been really good. There's an infinite number of idiotic fans from every fanbase on here; if you choose to put stock into what the most moronic segment of each fanbase thinks then that's your prerogative.
