Looked like he was running soft. Went down at first contact everytime.
Dude got rocked twice just a week before your game - I'm sure he was a litte apprehensive. But he is a straight up beast and I wish he were wearing a crimson jersey today.

So why did Fournette only get 5 carries in your opinion?

For the same reason that Jeremy Hill didn't get any carries during the 4th quarter against Clemson two years ago: Les Miles.

At that time, Hill had over 100 yds rushing in 10 carries. Didn't stop miles from pulling a miles and giving the ball to the other backs. And that's exactly what he did last weekend. I swear, the man does stupid shite sometimes just because he thinks he's being "the mad hatter".

ETA: and just to clarify, I'm not assuming Fournette would have racked up huge yards or anything like that. I'm just trying to say that the sample size was too small to determine that he was ineffective and therefore should have been benched.

Chubb learned watching Hurd when he ran for 100+ against the Dawgs in Athens.
Did Hurd learn anything watching Gurley go for 208 on tenn? Obviously not...

Hurd...158 for 716yds...4.5 ypc...3td's

Chubb..152 for 1039yds...6.9 ypc...9td's

Chubb, 6 less carries, 333 more yds, 2.5 more ypc & 3 times the tds...Don't mention Hurd in the same breath as Chubb...

No Vadal on the OL and lost Porter on 2nd series. Totally screwed the cohesive OL play we'd been seeing the past 4 games. Not having Kenny Hilliard hurt also. Still it's a mystery as to why LF didn't get more attempts. He's also a fine receiver and wasn't used in that capacity either. Several offensive mysteries coming out of the Ark. game for LSU.

Honestly...it wouldn't have mattered if he got more carries. All LSU RB's had nowhere to go thanks to our attacking D

Only Jennings had running room and herped derped most of the time

Don't kid yourself. The biggest difference was the missing linemen. Ark has a solid run D but not better than 'Bama or OM. Probably wouldn't have changed the outcome with those guys, and Kenny Hilliard but it certainly would have been more interesting. Also greatly effected the pass protection schemes.

What is Bama's excuse then.. we held them to 66 rushing yards

Agree I think he could develop into a pretty good fullback for us after a couple years with Herbert.

I don't think Fournette recovered from this.

Collins hit on Fournette

If had to make a guess I'd say it was the curse of the too smart for his own good OC. This, mind you, is a curse Arkansas fans know all to well. Arkansas was lining up in formations that didn't favor the approach LSU wanted to take with LF so they called other plays. And other plays. And so on.

At the end of the game you look back and realize you called the plays the other side wanted you to call. LSU let Arkansas push them around. Even with injuries you have to man up and push back in that type of game and they didn't.

ETA: By the way, that was a great game analysis on the Advocate film room. A really detailed look at exactly why things happened the way they did.

So when are you figs going to give some credit to the Arky D and DC for having a good game plan and stuffing LSU all night?

We shut down Bama, MSU, LSU, and didn't quit when Georgia had a huge first half.

At some point the Defense might actually have something to do with it.
