Sweet source
It's true though. I'll get you a link to a game in the 70's when Bama had already started doing it.

I was told UAB started the four fingers. Bama stole it and shut down their program.

Just curious Altie, how many boards have banned you?

Was it a pretty reliable source?

32 to date.
(Edit) I'm not named Altie. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Edit: Alabama really did start the 4 finger thing. I'm going to research my database and post some real evidence, if they don't ban me first.
Sorry mods. I'll behave if you let me stick around for long enough to post one or two more posts.
I'm trying to learn how to communicate without trolling. I'm doing much better. Thanks.

As reliable as a random 247 poster.

One Finger for the First Quarter
Alabama women's basketball players started that back in the 70's when they started dominating every other female squad on the court in the first quarter.
Other teams would be flabbergasted at the speed and depth at which the Alabama women dribblers overtook and pounded their opponents. They were the 1990's Chicago Bulls of their day.
Anyway, they held up their middle fingers to the crowd and took on the moniker "finger bangers," indicating their first period prowess against their rivals.
It caught on everywhere. Fortunately, Alabama women's basketball was heavily played over the AM radio, and every adolescent male and female wanted to "finger bang," so everyone started doing it.
It's a fad that started and just won't quit.

Are you gonna start suing other teams who do it just like the faggies due for the 12th man?

What he said is true. I recall this also.

LSU did this in the 50's, baw. Billy cannon did it. Im not going to claim we started it though.
LSU did start the wave, jingling the keys and singing "na-na na-na, hey hey hey....", we will, we will rock you and the beach ball, though.

Since everybody does it now, it is but another outmoded, mindless gesture. Please let it die, along with the wave and the utterly stupid-looking gator chomp.

Maybe we should have been like A&M and trademarked it, and then charged everyone every time that they used it.

I thought you were going to tell us how stupid you thought it was because every team whether they are ahead or getting beat 41-3 does it. I hate it and wish it'd never been created. We all know it's the 4th quarter. You don't have to hold up fingers to let us know.

Next thing we know the Bammers will be claiming they invented football.
