Tyndall and former Baylor coach Dave Bliss are the only two guys to get a 10 year show cause.

Louisville beat both Villanova and Syracuse this season. And almost won the ACC. They had the horses. Their President made that decision without cooperation from Pitino or Jurich. That's part of the reason he's on the chopping block right now.

UNC went for it because the NCAA isn't going to do shite. UofL has been getting feedback from the NCAA as they complete the investigation so they know they're getting hammered if they don't self-impose.

"He has a very genuine priority on academic success and his track record backs that up. Again, I don't think we could have found anyone who fits this profile better than the man I'm about to introduce to you, our new men's head basketball coach, Donnie Tyndall."

They went a little overboard with that penalty. Should have been 5 years. Dave Bliss tried to cover up a murder for crying out loud.

He is the first Cal coach to ever go undefeated at home and earned the highest seed since the T expanded to 64 teams......well the highest since the Pete Newell years in the late 50's. His team was pre-season ranked around the 15 spot for the most part for which they finished about that with a 4 seed.

Under no circumstances did Cal "underachieve" this year

Cuonzo is not a perfect coach by any means and I understand most Vol fans are not fond of coach Martin along with some other associated sheep that populate this board but saying he "underachieved" this year at Cal shows a general lack of understanding of Golden bear basketball history which is sad to say mired in mediocrity and worse over the course of the last several decades

He had 2 lottery picks and a probable 2nd round pick in an overrated league and then was promptly bounced in the 1st round by a 13 seed. History doesn't really mean anything relative to this season when you have that kind of talent.

Most Vol fans aren't real high on Martin because he is a mediocre coach whose teams underachieve and then he cries racism because he doesn't know how to coach his players to score against a 23 zone.

Despite the poor showing in the dance, I disagree with the "overrated league" assessment. If you were a regular follower of the conference of champions this year, you would have been treated to some very compelling and good basketball.

How did those 2 lottery picks come about to Cal? Hall of fame coach Mike Montgomery couldn't reel that type of talent to Berkeley

As for the Hawaii game, the Bears star Sr guard (who I assume you have slated as the 2nd round pick) broke his hand the Wednesday before the game, JR guard Jabari Bird who had a strong finish to the season was ruled out at game time from back spasms and one of those "lottery picks" had one of the worst games you'll ever see. Not to mention the asst coach Hufnagel being dismissed the Monday before the game due to sexual harassment. It was a very 'Cal' week, one which I don't believe any team would have recovered from to operate at an optimal level.

You're trying too hard to confirm your bias

Damn, Tyler Summitt's kid will be in the 5th grade the next time Donnie can coach.

UNC will get nothing. It's a 4 year old "investigation" at this point, they are just waiting for everyone to forget about it. The NCAA is the worst sham organization in history. Universities should for a new association and leave them behind.

I watched a couple of PAC games early in the year, decent basketball. It was easily better than the SEC's abysmal brand.

Good teams usually win those games, which is entirely my point. Cal with three players out or whatever should still beat Hawaii. I get that people want to defend Martin, but he has shown nothing to say he is an above average coach. His teams can rebound and play defense, both of which take little acumen to teach.

If you, as a Cal fan, are happy with mediocre results then you should be thrilled to have Coach Zo. I only have a bias against shitty basketball, which I watched plenty of while he was fearing for his life in Knoxville.

But he worried about his family -- wife, Roberta; sons Joshua (18) and Chase (14); and daughter Addison (8). As the tension grew in Knoxville -- customers at his wife's store alerted her that some members of the fan base had turned against her husband in his final season -- Martin decided to hire a security firm. That's what you do when 40,000 people don't want you around.

Was being a tad hyperbolic, but here is the wonderful article if you want to give it a look. LINK It's old, so I am sure you've already seen it.

Selective enforcement. Syracuse and North Carolina did worse, but they're in the Final 4. Where's their punishment? Syracuse got a wrist slap, but UNC has a walk so far. Instead of When Alabama cheats, Auburn gets punished, it's When Roy Williams cheats, Donnie Tyndall gets punished.
