Yeah....I'm a Bama fan and don't buy this either. Would love for the State of Alabama to have a pro franchise but the idiot voters in metro Birmingham missed a great opportunity in 1998 by failing to pass the MAPS referendum. Oklahoma City passed a similar MAPS program that same year which led to them building the Ford Center and eventually landing an NBA team.

Those types of resolutions rarely are worth it. Pro sports dont bring in the revenue that they promise. Birmingham made a wise move in not passing that

It was a measly 1 cent sales tax increase for Jefferson County. The fact that Oklahoma City residents passed the exact same MAPS referendum and now have the Ford Center and a Bricktown shows that the increase certainly can work
