Boutte wasn’t just placing bets, with those amounts listed I’d venture to guess he was booking.

He is also accused illegally gambling, using that fraudulent account, to place thousands of different bets including some on LSU football.

If he only bet on LSU to win, I genuinely don’t care

NIL is more likely to disincentivize this behavior than incentivize. The risk goes up.

Why not do both

The key is was he betting on LSU or betting to profit from LSU to lose or not cover.

Not condoning it but the former seems to be less serious.

Pete Rose was betting on his team to win.

Alabama had a coach doing it, I would say that makes Alabama more corrupt.

On3 reporting he placed over 8,900 bets while he was still in school. Wow.

More players than we realize are involved with this. Especially with the amount of NIL money going around.

I was going to say all these players suddenly having money and its going somewhere, a lot to gambling im sure with the amount of excess "NIL" out there

Yep. Big difference in betting to win/cover/over than not covering/under. If you are betting to cover/over then You aren’t shaving points.

For all the NIL bitching, THIS is something that has the potential to completely destroy the game.

Yep, and all these leagues are cozying up with & promoting sports gambling at every turn. It’s a short-term financial windfall no doubt. But, those interests are going to increasingly conflict.

LSU player betting scandal and coming sanctions could lead to the 2019 title being vacated.

Ol’ BK runs a tight ship.

Honestly, how much can a coach do?

I don't gamble, but I've watched coworkers on the weekends... all you really need is an account with some service.

Do coaches have the right to look at a player's financial documents, internet records, and passwords?
