This story is funny and pretty harmless if you ask me.

Oh, a rising professional football player mouthed off to a cop, in Eunice?

While I will say that Simon has definitely had his issues in the past and he put himself in an awful position yesterday, small town cops are the fricking worst. And Eunice is a miserable small town.

Simon probably just got annoyed because he didn't like the way Farva talked at him.

I'm from Opelousas, so there is bubbling undercurrent of hatred for the towns of Eunice and Port Barre that informs my entire way of life. That is why, in this particular case, I'm going to give the unfortunately named Tharold the benefit of the doubt.

Simon's just lucky he didn't encounter Farva patrolling the mean streets of Welsh.

Hell, for ten bucks, he'd call Simon a chicken fricker.

Well I would hope that he would apologize on "Tharold Simon Day" for not moving his car when the officer asked him to.
That's all he had to do. But no, gotta be militant about it. Empowerment and political correctness and 'respeck' and all this utter crap.

Why didn't they just charge him with "hurting an officer's sensabilities"?

That's what it boils down to.

The mayor is supposed to give Tharold a key to a cell tonight.
