Historically, you could make an argument for Alabama at #2 in basketball, as with a handful of teams.

ZOMG UT IS BROKE!!!1!one!
all big time programs have comparable debt. it's the media that made UT look like we're the only AD with debt. story broke out 2 days before NSD.

most big programs have/had hostess programs. thanks to Pete Thamel, everybody thinks UT pioneered it and is the only school doing it.

Oh lawd, here it goes.

Nah. If you read the article in the beginning it gets into how it's largely tied to the new downtown arena (Yum Center, which was paid for by the state and not the University), naming rights, etc.

BTW, I wouldn't use UCLA as an example. Their attendance is not great at all.

It is when they are winning. Same with usc in football. All those California schools have the ultimate fairweather fans.

People in LA view sports more as a source of entertainment as opposed to a passion like the East Coast. When it ceases being fun for them, they don't show up.

Really surprised Florida isn't in here.

that makes what UF does in basketball even more impressive.

Not surprising Xavier is on there and probably a big reason they will be jumping from the A10 to the C7. Cintas is a nice venue and both men and women have had basketball success. For all the talk of Tobacco Road my guess is the Dandy Diamond (Indy, Lou, Cin, and Lex) has the title for all time titles and leave the other guys in the dust.

I wonder sometimes how they are coming up with this. UF averages nearly the same in attendance as Texas even with a smaller arena and has great TV contracts. I would imagine we may spend a lot more so that may affect profits but I wonder why Texas would be near top 10 and UF isn't even ranked
