My uncle was a coach on the Central team Charlie Ward played for. I saw him play his last high school game in Sylvester against Worth Co. They just couldn't stop Toomer.

Glenn Dorsey and he was hurt, so he wasn't the monster we had heard about. We both played DT so I didn't get go heads up, but I was shocked at how small he was compared to me. It obviously didn't matter since he played for LSU and I went to school at LSU. He also became an LSU football legend. Great guy and allowed me to meet and party with lots of LSU players during his tenure at LSU

Played against Tony Xenon and Deandre Smelter who both played football at Georgia Tech. Smelter also pitched and had a 92 fastball.

Marcus Lattimore back on C team football days. Every time he got the hall he would take it to the house. He was so good in that game they moved him up to JV or varsity after they played us, it was the first game of the season.

And also Deandre Hopkins. He returned a punt against us. He signaled for a fair catch but then started returning it. We all thought the play was over. But the refs just let it happen.

I played baseball against a kid that was drafted in the second round for a MLB team. He was a bust. He was just a physically gifted human. I cannot imagine what a 1st round human would be like to compete against.

I was lucky to play with 1 and against 2 others who played in the majors. The guy I played with started for our high school as a Freshman. He had a decade long career bouncing between AAA and the majors.

Also batted against a guy who was A dominant pitcher the SEC his senior year, but didn’t make it in the majors. He hit me in the face with a fast ball. I still have no memory of the pitch. Just stepping in the box and then hearing my Mother scream as I was laying in the dirt.

I have tried to explain to my kids what the world was like when everyone went to public schools and used Murphy as an example (Assume that’s where you went) but they can’t even contemplate it. (St Paul’s )

Played against Jarrell Jernigan and Courtney Upshaw in high school. I grew up with them then played against them in high school though. Jerrell went on to be a decent WR at Troy but was NFL depth at WR for the Giants but he did get a Super Bowl ring. Courtney played at bama and was a pretty decent LB. He had a pretty good NFL career and also played on a Super Bowl winning team. Both played at Eufaula.

The other team's punt returner would fumble his punts because they would go out of sight over the lights and the returner would lose where they were at. lol

Ray Guy and Chris Mohr we’re both mcduffie county products. We had Eddie Lee Ivey helping out too. For such a tiny little town in GA they produced a fair number of outstanding athletes. Luther Welch left my So year but I played for him for a year.

I would’ve played against Jameis and Hueytown in Bryant-Denny for the state finals had they not lost to Vigor in the semifinals that year. Instead I had Darius Philon knocking the shite out of me all game. Him and their other DE, Jamichael Winston, both ended up at Arky I think

I played baseball and then quit bc we had like 4 guys go pro from Fayetteville. That said, I saw Peyton Hillis in a game and he was literally just carrying people on his back and in his slip stream like Remora Fish. Man amongst boys.
