Link the video of our first African American student to get run off campus and needing police and military escort to attend class....that's my favorite...it doesn't exist btw.

I bet if I search hard enough I can find a video of Mississippi State fans calling an Oklahoma State baseball player the *N Word* from the early 1990's.

All I'm saying is that it was obviously a much bigger problem at Ole Miss than any other school in the nation. You can't deny that. I'm laying down facts, not biased bullshite here.

It was the first black man enrolling into an SEC school. People from Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama and other states came to the campus and rioted. It wasn't like it was all Ole Miss students and alumni.

Actually hurling racial slurs at 18 year old kids some 35 years AFTER integration is arguably worse.

They are as bad as historians who deny history through "academics". It's embarrassing.

My God, you are an idiot. It's also ironic because this ^^^ exact situation is more prevalent at Ole Miss than anywhere else TODAY.

come on HJJ. You can't even believe that, can you? Two years ago when this same argument was being hashed out it was Mississippi State students that came to Oxford to help you protest. Now it's every school in the SEC? Did Mizzou and ATM send delegates too?

If you watched "Ghost of Mississippi" and listened to people that were actually there, they will tell you the same thing. I'm not saying Ole Miss people weren't involved but to insinuate that people form different states at the time, much less Mississippi State, didn't come to protest is just ignorance man. The reason so many people from different places came to protest was because they knew if it happened at Ole Miss then it would soon happen to them.

I'm going to start a thread about it during Egg Bowl week. To do it justice, it will be a rather lengthy post and I just don't have the time to devote to it right now. the gist of it is they were part of Ole Miss until they were kicked of Oxford and banished to a town known today as Starkville.

Make sure you know the history, because I do, and it reflects poorly on Ole Miss. I'll not hold back so get it right.

My uncle was in the national guard in Oxford during the Meredith crisis. He said the vast majority of the instigators were from Alabama.

No he's lying. People who were born in the 1990's know more than the people who were actually there.

If your uncle said so, then that's a fact.

Guys there were plenty of Mississippi State people in the Sovereignty Commission too. Lets no play the who is the most racist mfers game ...again. Yes, the answer is probably Ole Miss because it was about control and power and that is Ole Miss in Mississippi too. But I don't remember a freedom rider chapter in starkvegas.

Let the past stay in the past

His uncle probably isn't intentionally telling a lie, he's just an ole miss fan and not objective.

In reality I have no idea and could not care less, I'm just saying my uncles who are state fans aren't the best source on negative events they witnessed regarding state.

ETA: Actually, my uncles are all OM fans, but you get the point.

A State fan's favorite line when talking about football tradition but bring up other events going on at that time, it's fair game.

Wrong. He was a Mississippi State Bulldog his entire life. He actually wasn't a blood uncle. He was my aunt's husband. Look he had no reason to lie about this. It's a documented fact that many people from out of state descended on Oxford when this was going on. It was the first school in the Deep South to be forced to integrate. Surely you're not going to suggest that State had been the first school targeted that this would have gone any differently?
