Football game experience at Bristol?

Not trying to flame at all, but I'm just wondering how the experience is watching in the stadium. Seems to me (just from pictures) that the field is a long ways away and the stands wont be close to full. Just curious if Tenn fans or Va Tech fans would rather play here than a home/home?

Grandstand is equivalent to Neylands upper deck distance wise. Turns will be awful

For the last 30-40 years, many college football stadium have gone through renovations to remove the running track that was around their football field. Now we have the UT dupes getting all wet in the panties to see a game across a NASCAR track! Dumbest idea ever.

You seem so angry right before the start of college football. This should be a happy time for everyone.

All 160,000 tickets sold out almost a year ago, its going to be full. Its not like this is going to be an every year thing, its the first time something like this has every happened. Its a media and recruiting monster and the atmosphere will be unreal. Yes, some of the seats will be further away than normal but everyone already knew this years ago when it was announced.

Should be great recruiting for Va Tech when they win in front of 160k

This event is simple:
-the views will be mostly shitty
-people will go party their arse off for a few days in what will be an awesome time
-VOLS will roll VT in a football game that will take a backseat to corn liquor and pain pills

So 160,000 people will watch a college football game? That has to be a record.

This is all about the spectacle and the party. Fans at the game will party through it and watch it mainly on the super megatron they've installed for it or at the tailgates (btw, the big concert beforehand starts Friday and the party will start even sooner). Fans at home will actually watch the game and enjoy the spectacle of it.
Bristol is equidistant to both schools and is a city divided by the TN/VA state line - fan loyalty is split with lots of Vols and Hokies. It's not a normal game by any means but a game at Bristol between these two schools is something that has been tossed around for damn near twenty years (maybe more). Tech at one point was really pushing for it and Bristol has badly wanted to host this game forever. UT was always warm to the idea assuming the logistics could be worked out.
The game and it's location make perfect sense to both fanbases and might've even sparked a little bit of a rivalry if times were a bit different. The schools will make an absolute killing off the ticket sales.
I wouldn't want a game like this regularly but this is a once in a lifetime type of game that is more about the experience than anything else.

It will be the largest crowd ever for a college football game.

I've been to a race at Bristol and tend to agree. There's probably a sweet spot of about 15-20 rows between the goal lines that will be decent seats, but everywhere else will be pretty bad.
It'll probably be a fun party though.

Most Tennessee fans I know are excited about it
Most openly acknowledge it's more about the novelty than the appropriateness of venue for football (in other words, they know it'll suck)

Do you get to bring in your own cooler like NASCAR events? Or do you get a pit crew headset to listen in? Is there a race outside the field during the game? That's a Tennessee/ Virginia wet dream.

Bristol Motor Speedway...for football, there isn't a good seat in the house.

Nope...ETSU and Western Carolina play there the following Saturday. So, playing a game at Bristol with 30,000 people would be the dumbest idea ever.
HOW DARE YOU! THE BUC FANBASE WILL TRAVEL FROM ALL OVER THE TRI-CITIES TO CREATE A MASSIVE HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE FOR THE BUCS. THE CATAMOUNTS ARE DONE FOR, ITS FINISHED.

Tennessee fans and intelligence are mutually exclusive.
