Basketball is bigger in the B1G with Michigan St. Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Purdue and Ohio St.
Football is big in Ohio, Michigan, Penn St., and Wisconsin while the big-3 have been down lately.
Who knows if Penn St. will ever come back from their tragic scandal.

How do they do the football scheduling? Do any teams rotate on and off?

My only point is that Florida has been one of the elite SEC powers for a long time--For over two decades.
I don't think anyone is arguing the fact that UF has been one of the elite SEC powers since the 90s, or that they will not continue to be one for years to come. UF's location alone should ensure their success for the forseeable future.
The argument that it appears that you are trying to make is that UF has surpassed Bama as the top football program in the SEC, which from a historical view point or a recent history standpoint, is not an accurate statement. They may have temporarily supplanted Bama for a stretch of a little over one decade (some of the years of which Bama was on probation), but that has now swung back over the last decade to being pretty much even (with Bama having one more BCSNC) and is trending on Bama surpassing them in the near future.
Bama can recruit just as well as UF. They consistantly pull in top 3 or top 5 football revenue yearly, and have proved that they are willing to spend it. And Bama has proven that they are willing to give their coach whatever he needs to be successful. Bama will always have the advantage of having the tradition that is associated with the "Bama" brand (if you will). Bama is a top 1 or 2 program from a historic standpoint, which gives them a certain aura that most programs outside of ND do not have, including UF. There is absolutely no evidence that Bama will slip from their historic spot at the top of the SEC.

Shouldn't it be Georgia? We just had a home and home with Florida in 10 and 11
Word around the southeast is that Georgia has a picture of Mike Slive fricking a goat and so, therefore, Georgia will continue to draw the easy favorable schedules until Slive retires or dies, whichever comes first.

Is it catch-n-release or is there a limit?

Hey sheetbend, in big ten country, is football the main sport, or is the love spread around equally to all sports?
I'm really interested in a LSU fan's perspective of the B1G.

With all the additions, we can't even get the name of the conference settled, so B1G.
In 2016 we will go to a nine game conference schedule with only one permanent non-divisional game between a couple of basketball schools--Indiana and Purdue.
The divisions will be East and West with Ohio St. Michigan and Penn St. in the East., and Nebraska and Wisconsin in the West. The East will be stronger, but all the big rivalries are in the same divisions.

Well, if a thing is true, does it need to be repeated 20 times?
Maybe someone can knock off the Sabanator this year anf get to ATL, we'll see.
