Just drove that I-75 drive today. Absolutely awful. If you want to avoid the road construction north of Tampa you can get on the veterans expressway/suncoast parkway. Drive it till it ends, get on 98, then Florida 121. That runs into Gainesville right at 75. You can get to the veterans expressway from the stadium.

Funny you say that, because the closest and most sense making Holiday Inn/Hilton (which I had free rooms with from points) is in Crystal River, right in that area. After dealing with everything last year I know it's gonna be 3 AM before we get there, but we'll just hit up a Quick Trip, chug a few Starbucks frozen drinks and roll on.

However you can get to 589 (Veteran's Parkway) is the way to go. Toll road but it's the only way to get out of Tampa quickly. Spent last summer down there and it was a lifesaver.

Took me 4 hours to get from safety harbor to Gainesville today because of traffic and two wrecks in the construction zone.

We've been several times and we always tailgated in the big lot which I guess is South of the stadium towards Selmon's Steakhouse .... don't know if it's still there or not.

I would just use 275 and 75 to get out of there. Your game will be ending damn near midnight. Once you get away from the stadium, it'll be smooth sailing. Taking the veterens parkway that late at night is just dumb since you'll then be going on back roads in the middle of the night when the interstate will be perfectly fine.

Staying at Hilton Westshore. Website says you can walk to stadium. Is this true

You can but it would be about a 30 minute walk. It's around a mile and a half. Pretty doable to avoid traffic.
