17.

UF could be getting overlooked. It all depends on the offense. The Defense will be better than it was last year, so if the offense can step up, UF could surprise.

Fulwood is one of those knuckleheads who might spend more time in the doghouse than the end zone (see "Drake, Kenyon"). Can't count on him.

You lose all respect with this post, from Gator fans. You either got Fulwood mixed up with someone else, or you have zero clue as to what you are talking about.

UF has a legit shot in the East... all the contenders have holes to fill... if the new OC puts things together, combined with what should be a solid offense, Florida could be a dangerous team.

I agree. I hope no one interprets my posts as suggesting that Florida WILL win. That's not my point. My point is that Driskel and Muschamp have come close before versus stronger competition. They don't even have to be as good as 2012 if Georgia, South Carolina, LSU, and Alabama are worse than the SEC juggernauts that Florida faced in 2012.

I always thought Driskel could be a very good QB for them. If he starts to gel the gators could be tough. Still think they've got some work to do on the OL and their running game, but the defense will be good enough for them to win a lot of games if their offense doesn't implode like last season.

I'm not giving up on Debose. Pease underutilized him in 2012 IMO, relying on our dominant D. He was hurt last year. The kid has moves, and he has proven electric on returns. The only thing is that he has never stayed healthy.

I'm hoping he has a good season.

Problem with Debose, after he had surgery, he never gained his lateral quickness/agility back. He was a difference maker then, now he is a straight line burner.

Driskel is an air head. The thing Jeff has going for him now is the new offense doesn't require a ton of pre snap reads and scanning the field in the passing game. UF has gone several practices now without going under center, everything is very basic, and the passing offense has him reading half the field low to high.

As long as the offensive coaches can keep Driskel from getting in his own way, he could have a good year. Just avoid the stupid, unnecessary turnover and give the defense some decent field position to wreak havoc.

SoFla was right about the UF OL guys though. They have been really bad so far in their careers.

Our previous teams had the OL players cross training for multiple positions. That was one of the key things Roper wanted to remove. Our guys will now stay in one spot, baring injuries, to simplify the game. Should see a major improvement in the line for that alone.

That is correct. Not sure why Pease was so hell bent on that shite, but it backfired on him at Baylor as well. He has a hard on for a tackle being able to play any position on the OL, and a G doing the same. I didn't mind Davis, but Summers seems to be more of a technician.

You're right. Not even gonna edit my original brain cramp. Replace "Fulwood" with "Rob"

Florida is going to a pure shotgun offense (seriously practices have supposedly had less than 5 total under center snaps all spring) with the zone read being the basis of the offense-- under those circumstances it's honestly possible for Florida to have the same sort of offensive turnaround Auburn did last season.

The good thing from my point of view is that it's either going to be a 7-8 win season where in Boom is fired in late October or an 11-12 win year where Florida makes the playoffs and I think both are about 40% chances.

(20% that Florida just craters, due to injury or offensive misfit like Tony Franklin on the plains)

Driskel will be a redshirt junior this year and will make folks eat their words....just watch. In 2012 he was VERY efficient protecting the ball (to a fault really)until the UGA game...but I donyt think Driskel caused the fumble by the tight end in the end zone and he didn't cause Gillislee to fumble either. Everybody wants a whipping boy. Driskel was named SEC Offensive Player of the Week in 2012 after UT game and he showed great arm strength and accuracy in that game....but my how folks forget so easily.

It's pretty damn hard for me to be as hopeful for this season as the rest of you are. After three years of this offense I'm of the opinion that the team is in believe it when I see it mode. I don't believe anything the coaches (Roper, Muschamp, whomever) say is anything more than coach speak or sunshine pumping.

The rest of you can point to 2012's season, etc., but our offense was still 100+ in the country and you can claim it's because we didn't need a prolific offense to win games.... but I'm pretty sure we wanted to score, BADLY, against Mizzou & ULL to put them away and couldn't.

To be fair, though Driskel has been a real mixed bag. He single handedly gave the game to Miami last year before he got hurt.

I think he's got the tools to be a very, very good QB. But he must be cured of the turnover bug.

Last yr before Driskel got injured, he turned the ball over way too much.

Brown was OK, he was just a little out of shape coming out of Juco, but he played OK. Humphries was hurt a lot and had an up and down year. Garcia was pretty solid. Green was very solid in 2012, but didn't play in 2013, and Moore was playing out of position all year. He's back to guard in 2014 instead of tackle where he sucked against speed rushers last year.

The OL also has a new OL coach, which hopefully will improve things. I don't think UF's OL is going to be all that awesome, but it'll be a shite ton better than last year unless there is a massacre of injuries again.

The WR's have more talent than recent memory, and obviously the running backs are OK, the MAIN ISSUE is QB.

If Florida gets even half way decent QB play they'll be in every game just like 2012.

But I think the QB play will be horrible.

Eh I don't. Completely new offensive scheme and a defense that lost more than people think.

I would also like to point out that Florida was in every game last year in the 4th quarter with a chance to win except for FSU and strangely Vanderbilt (weird game, UF out-gained them 344-183).

And that was with the worst OL in recent memory, an injured back up QB, and eventually a third stringer.

So if the QB play is honestly about as good as 2012, UF will be a scary team to face just because of how good their defense will be.
