When the Idaho game was cancelled this year, I got alot of text messages from my friends saying how surprised they were that, particular incident doesnt occur more often in Gainesville.

Yeah, but in all honesty you can really only use it for five yard plays since the glass wall abuts right up to it.

But it's the finest 5 yard IPF in the history of the world.

That's about all we would have needed under Muschamp

Might need more money than that to build it

So what exactly is this replacing? How are they fitting this thing in right next to the current practice field?

It's replacing one of the outdoor fields, we are going from 3 to 2.

Why is Florida way less wealthy than the other SEC schools? They've had lots of success and have a huge alumnus base.

Not sure why you think UF is less wealthy than any SEC school. UF did not have an IPF in 96, 06, and 08, the football team did pretty good those years.

Foley has said that he did not feel like we needed one. While I may disagree with Foley on some issues, UF's success in Athletics under Foley is impressive.

Less wealthy than who?

UF had $130,000,000 in athletic revenue in last year during our worst football season in decades. A&M was at $93 million.

UF isn't poor. Foley has just been historically conservative on his spending.

It may have been Machen that was keeping us conservative. Some of the Gainesville writers have talked about how he hated spending money. Does seem interesting that as soon as Machen is gone, the IPF goes back to the drawing board and becomes full size. We are hearing about locker room upgrades now. Maybe things have changed.

It looks exactly like Auburn's (not criticizing).

ETA: The roof is a little more angled. Should be a sharp looking building when completed.

The anonymous 12.5 mi. donation may have lit a fire under Foley and Machen. Even though it was going to develope an athletic academic center it sure helped grease the skids on the IPF construction.
